Product Lead - Payments, Americas
About the Role
Nium is looking for a Product Lead, Payments to build and scale our global payments products. This is a senior role for someone who understands how money moves and has experience solving complex payment challenges for businesses, financial institutions, fintechs, and enterprise platforms.
You’ll own payment products and capabilities end-to-end — from identifying customer and market opportunities through strategy, delivery, launch, and commercial performance. Your work spans payment rails, pay-ins and payouts, bank and network integrations, processing, reconciliation, settlement, and the developer-facing layer that sits on top.
With Nium’s US license, you’ll also have the opportunity to build products and payment capabilities in the US domestic market — ACH, RTP, FedNow — layered on top of our global cross-border network. Most payments PMs never get to build a market from scratch. This role does.
The customers driving the most demanding payment requirements today are AI-native companies, autonomous platforms, and developer-first businesses — where payments are triggered by agents, executed at machine speed, and need to work without a human in the loop. You’ll build for that future alongside the enterprise clients we already serve globally.
Based in San Francisco, you’ll work closely with Nium’s commercial and executive leadership while partnering with product and engineering teams across the globe.
What You'll Own
- Own the strategy, roadmap, development, launch, and commercial performance of B2B payment products and capabilities.
- Identify customer, market, and infrastructure opportunities and translate them into scalable payment solutions — spanning global corridors and US domestic rails.
- Define how Nium builds products for AI-native and agentic customers: programmable disbursements, API-native payment flows, and capabilities designed to operate without a human in the loop.
- Partner with commercial teams and customers to identify where Nium should invest and why.
- Build business cases across pricing, payment economics, network reach, operational complexity, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive launches, adoption, growth, and commercial outcomes — not just delivery.
- Partner across Engineering, Sales, Partnerships, Operations, Treasury, Compliance, and Risk.
- Communicate strategy, trade-offs, and performance clearly to executive stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ Years of product management experience, including meaningful experience building B2B or enterprise payment products.
- Experience across cross-border payments, pay-ins/payouts, ACH/A2A, real-time payments, payment APIs, bank integrations, reconciliation, or settlement.
- Strong commercial mindset: pricing, product economics, market opportunity, and revenue.
- Technical fluency with APIs, payment flows, integrations, and complex systems.
- Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously and drive outcomes in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Experience working with globally distributed product and engineering teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, including executive-level comfort.
How You'll Work
High agency. You develop a point of view, make decisions, and drive work forward without waiting for perfect information.
Commercially minded. You think beyond building the product to demand, pricing, adoption, economics, and growth.
Technically curious. You go beneath the surface — APIs, transaction flows, integrations, and the constraints that make payments hard.
Built for the agentic economy. The most important payment problems ahead involve AI agents and autonomous systems moving money programmatically at scale. You understand what products and APIs need to look like to support that — and you use AI tools yourself to think faster and close the gap between insight and execution.
Globally collaborative. Based in San Francisco, working across product and engineering teams worldwide.
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Experience building payment products for AI companies, developer-first platforms, or technology businesses where payments are embedded in the product.
- Experience launching payment products in new markets or establishing new banking and rail partnerships.
- Direct ownership of commercial outcomes: adoption, revenue, or unit economics.
- Experience working with banks, payment networks, processors, or payment infrastructure partners.
Why Nium
This is an opportunity to work at the intersection of global payments, product strategy, technology, and commercial growth — with the added dimension of building US-domestic payment products at a moment when Nium’s licensing gives us the ability to do it directly.
The companies shaping what payments look like next — AI platforms, autonomous agents, global enterprises — need payment capabilities that move at their speed. You’ll build them. Significant autonomy, direct exposure to senior leadership, and problems that are genuinely hard to solve.
