At Best Practice Software, our vision is communities connected with care. We’re achieving this through our mission to build a culture people love, where:
- we value customers,
- we work together for success,
- we are accountable for our actions,
- we innovate for the future, and
- we celebrate diversity and inclusion.
If you share our vision and values, please consider this exciting career opportunity to join our growing team in Bundaberg or Brisbane, Queensland.
At Best Practice Software, our vision is communities connected with care. Our Product Design team brings that to life in the products and workflows that clinicians and practice staff use every day, and we're looking for a Product Manager to help lead that work.
You'll spend a lot of your time with our customers, finding out what they need and working out which problems are most worth solving. Then you'll make sure what we deliver is safe, easy to use and actually useful in a clinical setting.
Your team, your role
You’ll be part of the Product Design stream, working with designers, clinical and practice advisors, architects and our delivery teams to take ideas from a customer conversation through to a feature that’s tested, prioritised and ready to build. The role combines product management with hands-on product ownership. You’ll help decide what we build and why, then write the requirements and support the developers as it’s built. It isn’t a supervisory role, but it is a highly connected one.
We’re looking for an experienced Product Manager with the skills and experience outlined in this advert. Internally, this role is known as Product Owner.
What you will do
- Run customer interviews, discovery workshops and co-design sessions to understand what customers really need.
- Keep an eye on competitors and the market, and help shape the roadmap and what goes into each release.
- Put together proposals for new work, covering the customer and clinical value, commercial viability, cost and risk.
- Own new features from the first idea through to prototypes, requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, making sure they meet our UX, accessibility and clinical safety standards.
- Look for places where AI could make a real difference to our products and our customers' workflows, and use AI tools yourself to speed up research and requirements work.
- Be the person developers come to with questions during delivery, and help keep the work on track.
- Work with our marketing, training and customer-facing teams when new features go out, so customers know about them and how to use them.
- Agree what success looks like for each feature, then use customer feedback, usability and support call data after release to check it delivered and to shape what we improve next.
What you will bring
Essential:
- Experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager, or as a Business Analyst or in a similar role, on technology products or projects.
- Experience running customer interviews, co-design sessions or discovery workshops.
- Hands-on experience turning customer insight into requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and producing wireframes or prototypes.
- Experience prioritising competing requests based on customer value, cost and risk.
- Strong communication, analytical and organisational skills, and a track record of meeting deadlines.
- A working understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Experience using and implementing AI technology.
- A post-secondary qualification. A tertiary qualification in a related field is highly regarded.
Nice to have:
- Experience in medical software or e-health technology.
- Knowledge of the Australasian healthcare community and its unique challenges.
- Experience designing or owning software used in a clinical or other safety-critical setting.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 and inclusive design practices.
- Experience with prototyping and design collaboration tools.
