Summary

Product Manager/Buyer at APMEX, an ecommerce precious metals retailer in Oklahoma City. Manages product lines end-to-end: purchasing inventory from vendors, setting competitive buy/sell prices, creating product listings, monitoring KPIs and margins, and coordinating with merchandising and photography teams. Hybrid role with Monday/Friday remote.

We are seeking a local candidate for this role! This position offers a flexible, hybrid schedule with availability to work from home on Monday and Friday.

The Product Manager owns the assortment strategy and financial performance of assigned customer-facing product categories on the company website. This is a merchandising role: you will determine what our customers want to buy, build categories around it, and use data to grow sales, margin, and enhance inventory productivity. Partnering with the Divisional Merchandise Manager, you will identify industry trends and emerging categories, develop exclusive products with vendors, and set competitive pricing. This is a hybrid role: half product manager, developing and enhancing existing products, and half buyer, using data to maintain appropriate inventory levels while finding new vendors and maintaining relationships with existing partners.

A Day in the Life of a Product Manager:

  • Build and manage a strategic business plan for each product line across its full life cycle
  • Curate and develop assortments based on customer demand, sales data, and market trends; decide which products to add, expand, or exit
  • Spot industry trends and up-and-coming categories early, then build the business case and plan to develop them
  • Source new products and develop exclusive offerings with vendors; negotiate pricing and terms while maintaining strong, professional vendor relationships
  • Set buy and sell prices that stay competitive with the market and meet margin goals; quickly resolve any pricing or margin issues
  • Manage inventory health through data: analyze sell-through, out-of-stocks, depletions, and aging to guide buying decisions, and use promotions or clearance to reduce excess
  • Recommend weekly email promotions and site banners to Site Merchandising, forecasting unit sales and revenue for each
  • Own product presentation, including listings, specifications, descriptive content, and imagery in partnership across multiple teams
  • Analyze product line performance weekly and monthly using our ERP system and other data tools (Excel, Tableau, A.I.) delivering insights and recommendations to leadership

What You Bring:

  • Proven buying, merchandising, or category management experience with customer-facing products
  • A track record of building assortments and categories with strategic business plan
  • Strong analytical skills leveraging systems and data to make informed decisions
  • Experience managing inventory through data analysis and forecasting to drive in-stock rates, turns, and profitability
  • Confident, professional communication skills and a history of building lasting vendor partnerships
