Summary

A hands-on product manager role at open data platform Wych, owning the CDR and open banking product roadmap while acting as technical business analyst: leading discovery, writing user stories and acceptance criteria, and supporting engineering delivery. Core focus on APIs, consented consumer data, and regulatory compliance.

Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 per year

About the role

This is a hands-on Product Manager role with a significant technical business analysis component, sitting at the intersection of customers, technology, regulation and commercial strategy. You will own Wych's CDR and open data product roadmap while also taking a lead role in translating customer, business and regulatory needs into clear, delivery-ready requirements. This will include facilitating discovery, analysing business processes and data flows, defining functional and non-functional requirements, preparing user stories and acceptance criteria, and supporting engineering and quality teams throughout delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the product roadmap for Wych's CDR and open data products.
  • Lead customer and internal discovery sessions to identify underlying needs, problems and opportunities.
  • Analyse and document current and future-state business processes, customer journeys, system interactions and data flows.
  • Elicit, challenge and clarify business, technical, operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate complex requirements into clear functional and non-functional specifications, user stories, process maps and acceptance criteria.
  • Work with engineering and architecture teams to assess solution options, dependencies, constraints and delivery impacts.
  • Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, testing and acceptance to ensure delivered solutions meet the agreed requirements.
  • Maintain traceability from the original customer or regulatory need through to the delivered product outcome.
  • Identify gaps, assumptions, risks and conflicting requirements early and drive them through to resolution.
  • Prioritise initiatives based on customer value, strategic alignment, regulatory requirements, delivery effort and commercial benefit.

About you

  • Strong, demonstrated business analysis experience in a software, data, fintech or other technical environment.
  • Experience eliciting, analysing and documenting complex business, customer, technical and regulatory requirements.
  • The ability to create clear process maps, data-flow diagrams, functional and non-functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience taking requirements through refinement, development, testing, acceptance and release.
  • The confidence to question assumptions, resolve ambiguity and identify gaps before work enters delivery.
  • Sufficient technical understanding of APIs, integrations, data structures and system dependencies to work effectively with engineers and architects.
  • Product management or product ownership experience, including roadmap development, prioritisation and measuring product outcomes.
  • Strong commercial judgement and the ability to balance customer value, compliance, cost and delivery priorities.
  • Confidence engaging with customers, senior leaders, technical specialists and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a structured, practical and collaborative working style.
