Product Manager – Cybersecurity Solutions (Splunk)
About the Role
We are looking for a driven, technical, and detail-oriented Product Manager to join our Cybersecurity Product team. In this role, you will help shape, build, and scale our security offerings built on or integrated with the Splunk enterprise platform (including Splunk Enterprise Security, Splunk SOAR, and Observability/SIEM solutions).
You will collaborate closely with security engineers, threat analysts, UX designers, and go-to-market teams to translate complex security use cases into actionable product features. This role is ideal for a mid-level Product Manager who has a solid foundation in Agile product delivery and a strong interest or background in enterprise cybersecurity and SIEM/SOAR platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Execution & Backlog Management
Partner with engineering leads to groom product backlogs, write detailed user stories, and define clear acceptance criteria for cybersecurity features.
Act as the Product Owner in daily Agile ceremonies (sprints, standups, retrospectives, and planning sessions).
Prioritize bug fixes, feature requests, and technical debt against business objectives and roadmap timelines.
Customer & Threat Landscape Discovery
Engage directly with internal security operations center (SOC) analysts, external customers, and security partners to gather requirements and validate product concepts.
Understand key cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., MITRE ATT&CK, NIST) and common SOC workflows to ensure our Splunk-based solutions address real-world threat detection and incident response needs.
Splunk & Ecosystem Integration
Work with security architects to define requirements for custom Splunk apps, dashboards, detection rules, data models, and automated playbook integrations (Splunk SOAR).
Monitor performance, usability, and adoption metrics of existing Splunk applications and integrations, making data-driven recommendations for enhancement.
Go-to-Market & Enablement Support
Collaborate with Product Marketing and Technical Writing teams to produce clear documentation, release notes, user guides, and internal sales enablement materials.
Track product metrics, feature adoption, and user feedback post-launch to iterate and improve user experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
Required Qualifications:
Experience: 2–4 years of experience as a Product Manager, Associate Product Manager, or Technical Product Owner in a software or cybersecurity environment.
Domain Knowledge: Basic to intermediate understanding of core cybersecurity concepts (SIEM, SOAR, Threat Detection, SOC Workflows, Log Management, Security Analytics).
Splunk Exposure: Familiarity with Splunk platforms (Splunk Enterprise, Splunk Enterprise Security, or Splunk Cloud) and standard search processing language (SPL) capabilities.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus Qualifications:
Splunk certifications (e.g., Splunk Core Certified Power User, Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Admin, or Splunk Certified Developer).
Background as a Security Analyst, SOC Engineer, or Technical Support Specialist transitioning into Product Management.
Basic understanding of security compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and common data ingestion pipelines
Agile Proficiency: Hands-on experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies using tools like Jira and Confluence
Success Factor:
First 90 Days: Build a deep understanding of our Splunk product ecosystem, take ownership of the team's sprint backlog, and build relationships with key security engineering stakeholders.
First 6 Months: Successfully deliver 1–2 key feature updates or Splunk integration enhancements from concept to release, meeting defined scope and acceptance criteria.
First Year: Drive product feature adoption by SOC users, refine user onboarding flows, and contribute proactively to the mid-term cybersecurity product roadmap.
