Product Manager(FDE)
Summary
Product Manager (FDE) at a newly founded Malaysia AI R&D hub: owns the full lifecycle of AI products (intelligent agents, AI+industry platforms) for energy and education customers across ASEAN — from business discovery and PRDs to hands-on POC builds with agent workflows and RAG pipelines — while using AI tools daily as part of the craft.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Malaysia AI Innovation Center is the overseas R&D hub of our AI Business Group, localizing and scaling AI products across ASEAN markets. We are looking for a Product Manager who works at the intersection of two dimensions:
First, you are a Product Manager for AI products — you own the lifecycle of AI-powered solutions (intelligent agents, AI+industry platforms), translating real business pain points into clear product strategies, roadmaps, and delivery milestones.
Second, you are a Product Manager powered by AI — you use AI tools as core instruments of your own craft. Whether it’s using LLMs for market research, building rapid prototypes with AI generation tools, or writing specifications clear enough for both humans and AI agents to execute, AI is how you work, not just what you build.
You don’t need to be a deep technical expert. What matters is that you understand AI’s practical capabilities and limitations, communicate precisely with engineering teams, and care deeply about solving real customer problems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Business Understanding
Independently engage business and technical customer stakeholders. Analyze business objectives, pain points, system landscapes, data and compliance constraints. Identify valuable AI opportunities; elicit customer requirements and define project scope, objectives and measurable success criteria.
• AI Product & Solution Design
Independently translate customer demands into AI product features and end‑to‑end solutions. Evaluate solution feasibility, cost and implementation risks. Produce PRDs and complete solution documentation; identify opportunities for reusable scenario‑based solution templates.
• POC Build & Validation
Take full end‑to‑end ownership of project POCs: define POC scope and acceptance criteria; configure AI prototypes including Agent workflows and RAG pipelines. Organize customer demonstrations and outcome validation, and issue POC conclusions. Raise requirements for complex development tasks to downstream software teams and follow through on delivery.
• Customer Delivery Enablement
Independently drive transition from POC to pilot‑phase production deployment. Drive R&D and testing teams to resolve implementation‑ and solution‑related issues. Document project assets and feed reusable solution patterns back to the product organization.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration
Proactively align cross‑functional teams toward shared goals. Act as an effective translator between business and technical language. Independently identify product capability gaps and propose improvement requirements. Own full‑cycle delivery for medium‑complexity customer projects.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities reasonably assigned by the Company from time to time.
WHAT YOU MUST BRING
• 5+ years of software product management experience, with a track record of guiding products from discovery through delivery.
• Practical understanding of how LLMs work — you know what a context window is, why AI outputs can be inconsistent, and how to write clear instructions that get reliable results from AI tools.
• Strong analytical mindset with a passion for user-centric design and the ability to balance speed with quality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate precise requirements to both human teams and AI systems.
WHAT YOU CAN LEARN HERE
We will invest in your growth in these areas. Prior exposure is a plus, not a prerequisite:
• Specification-driven development practices — writing machine-parseable specs that directly drive AI agent execution.
• Hands-on use of AI prototyping tools (Lovable, Bolt.new, v0, Replit) for rapid MVP development.
• AI safety principles, responsible AI practices, and ASEAN regulatory frameworks (Malaysia PDPA).
• Multi-market product localization strategies for Southeast Asian markets.
LANGUAGE
Proficiency in Chinese is valued for day-to-day collaboration with our China headquarters. Candidates without speaking Chinese who demonstrate strong cross-cultural communication skills are equally welcome.
WHY JOIN US
• Founding team opportunity: you will shape the product culture and strategy of a brand-new R&D center from the ground up.
• Own the full product lifecycle for AI-powered solutions serving real industries — energy and education — across a fast-growing ASEAN market.
• AI-first team culture: your specifications will directly drive AI coding agents, giving you a uniquely tight feedback loop between what you define and what gets built.
• 3-year strategic incubation: no short-term revenue pressure. Focus on building the right products and learning cutting-edge AI product practices.
TEAM CONTEXT
You will form the leadership duo alongside the Senior Software Engineer (Architecture Track), jointly building the Center’s team. In Year 1, you’ll work with a compact team of 5–15 people, scaling to 25–30 by Year 2. You’ll collaborate daily with the technical lead on translating product specs into implementation, and work closely with domestic business units (AI+Energy, AI+Education) to localize mature products for ASEAN markets.
