Product Manager - Institutional API & Digital Asset Accounts

Summary

Leads the design and delivery of Luno’s institutional API and digital asset account infrastructure, enabling B2B partners to embed custody, settlement, and compliance services for their customers—owning API surfaces, account primitives, integrations, and commercial packaging for regulated crypto infrastructure.

About us:

Luno has spent over a decade making digital assets safe to own. Since 2013, we've helped millions of people across more than 40 countries buy, store and invest in crypto, working with regulators in every market and holding all customer crypto 1:1. That discipline built the licences, banking relationships, custody and compliance machinery that the next era of this market will run on

The financial system is moving on-chain, and the businesses, banks and payment companies in our markets need infrastructure they can trust. Luno is building institutional access, wallet and account infrastructure, and local-currency stablecoin issuance on the same rails that have served retail customers for twelve years.

About the team

You'll join the Institutional Access & Issuance portfolio, leading the pod that builds Luno as a Service — the B2B infrastructure layer that lets any business serve its own customers on Luno's rails, with or without a direct relationship between Luno and those end customers. You'll report to the Group Product Manager and work with dedicated engineering and UX partners.

The role in a nutshell:

You will own the infrastructure layer that lets any business serve its own customers on Luno’s rails. Partners keep their brand, their interface and their customer relationship; underneath runs the custody, settlement and compliance machinery Luno has designed. One build carries three commercial motions: direct institutional customers, group business lines consuming the API as clients, and B2B partners embedding digital asset accounts into their own products. This is an externally facing role: your customers are the partners and institutions integrating against what you ship, and their developers will judge your product by its API surface.

Your mission will be:

  • The institutional API end-to-end: client account creation and management, wallet management, mint/burn exposure, yield distribution logic, and reporting, through one coherent, sellable surface
  • Digital asset accounts: accounts a partner operates for their customers at scale, without those customers needing a direct Luno relationship
  • The platform primitives underneath: organisations, users, permissions and subaccounts from partner to client to end user, plus usage metering and attribution as a first-class capability, not an afterthought
  • Run partner integrations as a product discipline: from commercial framing through technical scoping to go-live, with the first consumers of the API treated as design partners
  • Commercial packaging and pricing: working with commercial teams to build a recurring B2B infrastructure revenue line: API access, wallet fees, transaction fees.
  • Sequence the roadmap so the infrastructure serves every consumer: what ships for the first partner must also carry the direct institutional experience built on top of it

A little about you:

  • You have 3+ years of experience as a Product Manager, with meaningful time on platform or API products in fintech, crypto or B2B infrastructure
  • You are technically fluent: you can debate an API design, an authentication model or an account hierarchy with engineers and hold your own
  • You think in primitives and consumers: you can design one capability so that several products, partners and business lines can build on it without rework
  • You've run B2B partner integrations directly — commercial conversation through technical scoping to go-live — and you treat developer experience as the product, not a wrapper around it
  • You have strong commercial instincts: pricing, packaging and unit economics are part of how you define the product, not something handed over afterwards
  • You understand digital asset infrastructure - custody, wallets, on/off-chain settlement - or have the demonstrated ability to learn regulated financial infrastructure fast
  • You use AI as part of how you work, in discovery, analysis, writing and prototyping, and you can show where it's changed your output, not just your tooling
