Product Manager, Vault & Forward API

Open 35d posting dated yesterday

Summary

Owns the product strategy and roadmap for Vault and Forward API, enabling merchants to securely store and manage payment credentials across providers in a fintech platform.

Company Description

We’re Checkout.com. You might not know our name, but companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony do, because we’re behind many of the digital experiences you use every day.

We are where the world checks out, enabling over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion global shoppers.

Whether you want to book a holiday, order food, renew a subscription, or check out online, there’s a good chance our tech powers the payments behind the scenes. Our platform helps the most ambitious businesses deliver effortless digital experiences, at scale.

If you want to do career-defining work, you’ve come to the right place. We move fast, think globally, and believe great teams are built by hiring exceptional people with conviction, curiosity, and the desire to make an impact.

With 20 offices across six continents and London as our HQ, we’re shaping the future of fintech – and we’re just getting started.

Own Checkout.com's vision on becoming the system of record for payment credentials, independent of acquiring. The Vault holds billions of stored instruments; the Forward API is how they reach any endpoint - and the forward-first connector backbone of our orchestration platform, reaching any processor without their cooperation.

Product, infrastructure, and commercial ownership in one role, including pricing - scope almost no PSP gives its PMs.

Network tokens and account updater sit with a partner team - one credential story, run on a shared scorecard (credential freshness, network-token penetration, auth uplift).

You'll own

  • Vault: core primitives (instruments, tokens, metadata), PCI DSS posture, and standalone Vault for merchants who don't process with us

  • Forward API: credential forwarding end to end - expand beyond PSP fallback into fraud tools, 3DS, loyalty, and migrations, with reliability and latency SLAs on the critical payment path

  • Portability and migration: contractual token export as a sellable feature - our answer to lock-in in enterprise RFPs - and import tooling at scale to win credentials from other vaults

  • Commercial: pricing, packaging, billing, and the metrics that matter - instruments stored, standalone adoption, forward volume, credential revenue

  • GTM: positioning and sales enablement, including when to sell Forward API vs orchestration

You'll bring

  • 5+ years in product, 3+ in payments - and you've built or owned a payment vault, tokenization platform, network token service, or card-on-file infrastructure

  • Deep tokenisation and PCI DSS knowledge; fluent with developer-facing APIs

  • Commercial ownership experience: pricing, P&L inputs, a number you were accountable for

Bonus:

  • Token portability/migration programmes

  • Regulated markets

  • Agentic commerce
