About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Product Manager, Test Automation to lead and manage Tosca as a shared testing capability across enterprise systems operating within secure and regulated environments.

This role is responsible for defining the automation strategy and roadmap, driving adoption, managing stakeholders, establishing governance standards, and leading a team of Software Quality Engineers (SQEs). The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and system owners to deliver scalable, sustainable, and measurable test automation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and maintain the test automation roadmap, adoption priorities, and implementation strategy aligned with organisational quality objectives.
  • Identify opportunities where test automation can deliver measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and risk reduction.
  • Drive the transition from manual testing to automated testing through structured planning and implementation.

Stakeholder Management

  • Partner with project teams, system owners, vendors, and business stakeholders to prioritise automation initiatives.
  • Communicate automation strategies, progress updates, risks, and benefits to key stakeholders and management.
  • Balance competing priorities across multiple systems and programmes.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Software Quality Engineers supporting automation adoption and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Foster best practices in software testing, automation engineering, and quality assurance.
  • Support capability building and continuous improvement within the testing community.

Governance & Standards

  • Establish and maintain automation standards, reusable test assets, naming conventions, evidence management practices, and governance frameworks.
  • Review test artefacts and automation assets to ensure maintainability, scalability, and alignment with quality objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational security, risk management, and governance requirements.

Performance & Reporting

  • Track and report automation adoption, coverage, execution results, utilisation metrics, benefits realised, risks, and recommendations.
  • Define success measures and KPIs to evaluate automation effectiveness and business value.
  • Continuously improve automation processes through data-driven insights and feedback.

Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in software testing, quality assurance, test automation, or product/platform management within enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience leading an automation strategy, automation platform, testing service, or similar capability across multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or guiding software quality engineering or testing teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Tricentis Tosca, including test design, automation asset development, maintenance, and execution.
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycles, testing methodologies, Agile delivery practices, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience developing automation adoption roadmaps and prioritising initiatives based on business needs and value delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Experience working in secure, regulated, or large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with test management and defect tracking tools such as Jira.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Professional certifications such as ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent.
  • Tricentis Tosca certification (Architect or equivalent advanced certification).
  • Experience implementing test automation within cloud, enterprise, or secure environments.
  • Exposure to CI/CD integration and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with API testing and automation tools or frameworks such as Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, Karate, or Postman.
  • Understanding of non-functional testing disciplines, including performance and security testing.
  • Experience working in public sector, government-linked, or highly regulated environments will be advantageous.
