Product Manager
THE JOB
Tri Tool Technologies is hiring a Product Manager to lead product development for Tri Tool’s portable machining and pipe preparation tools. You’ll drive the execution of all processes in the Product Development Life Cycle, from market research and concept through engineering, testing, manufacturing, and launch.
You’ll guide Engineering, Production, Marketing, and Sales to build products that improve the customer’s experience and help us grow. You’ll also spend time at customer sites introducing new products, hearing what works on existing ones, and bringing those ideas back to drive what your team builds next.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- Team Leadership. Hire, train and develop the engineers on your team. Set priorities, assign work, give regular feedback, and hold the team accountable for quality and schedule.
- Product strategy. Analyze the market and plan the full lifecycle of a product, from conception to release. Run product and market research, competitor analysis, planning, positioning, requirements, roadmap development, and launch.
- Business cases. Create product strategy documents covering business cases, high-level use cases, technical requirements, revenue, and ROI.
- Requirements. Turn product strategy into detailed requirements and lead your team in prototyping and building them.
- Voice of the customer. Visit customer sites to see how products are used and gather feedback to drive our product development.
- Sales and marketing direction. Analyze market data to develop sales strategies and define product objectives for marketing communications. Develop positioning and messaging that sets Tri Tool apart in our main market segments.
- Teamwork. Work closely with Engineering, Production, Marketing, and Sales to develop and release products, and balance resources so the whole company succeeds.
HOW WE TAKE A PRODUCT TO MARKET
You’ll own each stage of our process:
- Create concept. Evaluate the budget, validate ROI, evaluate obsolescence cost, and down-select concepts and options.
- Execute project. Lead your team through product development, assign and track the work, manage schedules and budget, make sure design processes are followed, conduct design reviews, and build the prototype. Balance resources to ensure success for the entire organization.
- Validate product. Lead your team in testing the prototype, coordinate customer testing, confirm the product meets all requirements, conduct the final design review and manufacturing readiness review, and validate the financial model.
- Manufacture product. Verify that technical specifications, manuals, other literature, and training materials are produced. Re-evaluate costing data, work with Production on process improvements, and implement the obsolescence plan.
- Go to market. Capture lessons learned, lead customer outreach, and handle pricing, the launch plan, and sales and distributor training.
