Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Marketing Lead based in the United States.

Take ownership of product marketing from the ground up at a fast-growing communications technology company serving more than 20,000 customers. As the first dedicated product marketing hire, you will shape how a portfolio of business phone and integrated communications solutions is positioned, packaged, and brought to market. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with Growth, Product, Sales, and Customer Success to translate customer insights into compelling messaging and successful launches. You will lead go-to-market strategies for new features and pricing changes while strengthening adoption, conversion, and revenue growth. This is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity for an entrepreneurial marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to build a function with meaningful business impact.

Accountabilities

You will own the end-to-end product marketing strategy, ensuring that product value is clearly communicated to the right audiences and consistently translated into measurable commercial results.

  • Positioning and Messaging

    • Develop and maintain differentiated positioning for each core product use case.

    • Deliver two updated customer personas and a refreshed messaging framework within your first 30 days.

    • Ensure consistent product messaging across the website, demos, marketing content, and customer-facing materials.

    • Translate customer needs and product capabilities into clear value propositions for different target audiences.

    • Go-to-Market Strategy and Launch Enablement

      • Lead go-to-market execution for every new feature release and pricing change.

      • Define launch tiers, prepare launch briefs, and manage the communications calendar.

      • Lead at least one Tier-1 launch per month, prioritizing features used by more than 20% of customers or connected to upsell opportunities.

      • Coordinate launch activities across Product, Growth, Sales, and Customer Success to ensure effective execution and adoption.

      • Revenue and Sales Alignment

        • Own product marketing contributions to sales playbooks, customer lifecycle initiatives, sales training, and Customer Success enablement.

        • Review sales and customer-facing materials with Sales and Customer Success teams every two weeks.

        • Ensure messaging clearly communicates product value and supports acquisition, conversion, retention, and expansion.

        • Voice of the Customer and Market Insights

          • Conduct regular conversations with customers across ideal customer profiles (ICPs) to develop a deep understanding of their needs, behaviors, and use cases.

          • Partner with Customer Success and Research to produce at least one new customer case study per month.

          • Conduct monthly win/loss interviews to identify buying motivations, objections, and competitive insights.

          • Translate customer and market feedback into actionable recommendations for product roadmap prioritization and competitive content.

          • Cross-Functional Leadership

            • Lead a weekly go-to-market coordination meeting with Growth, Customer Success, and Product.

            • Provide insights for roadmap planning across the next two quarters, particularly regarding competitive changes and customer feedback.

            • Build strong working relationships across teams to remove blockers, maintain momentum, and deliver measurable outcomes.

            • Performance and Business Impact

              • Support increased customer acquisition and logo growth while reducing customer acquisition costs across target ICPs.

              • Accelerate feature adoption after conversion among priority customer segments.

              • Improve alignment between product value, sales messaging, and growth campaigns.

              • Increase conversion from website traffic to qualified leads within target audiences.

              • Requirements

The ideal candidate is a commercially minded product marketer who combines strategic positioning skills with hands-on go-to-market execution. You are comfortable building processes from scratch, working across hardware and software products, and using customer insights to drive measurable business results.

                • 4–7 years of experience in product marketing, ideally within SMB or consumer SaaS businesses.

                • Experience working with self-service checkout models and low-touch sales motions.

                • Proven ability to lead go-to-market strategies for product features directly connected to revenue impact, rather than focusing solely on awareness.

                • Experience developing positioning and messaging for both hardware and software products.

                • Ability to communicate complex product capabilities clearly to audiences with varying levels of technical familiarity.

                • Strong customer research skills, including conducting interviews, developing personas, and translating insights into messaging and product recommendations.

                • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong structured thinking and attention to detail.

                • Strong collaboration skills and an operator mindset, with the ability to prioritize outcomes, move quickly, and overcome obstacles.

                • Entrepreneurial approach, ownership mentality, curiosity, humility, self-awareness, and persistence.

                • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, performance-oriented environment with evolving priorities.

                • A portfolio of previous work or sample go-to-market launch plans is a plus.

                • Benefits

                  • Total annual compensation, including equity, of $145,000–$175,000.

                  • 401(k) retirement plan.

                  • Health insurance.

                  • Opportunity to build and lead the product marketing function as the first dedicated hire.

                  • Direct collaboration with the CEO and senior stakeholders across Product, Growth, Sales, and Customer Success.

                  • Opportunity to influence product strategy, go-to-market execution, and the growth of a communications platform serving more than 20,000 customers.

                  • A collaborative, customer-focused environment that encourages ownership, curiosity, transparency, and continuous improvement.

                  • Working Culture

                    • Curiosity: A strong emphasis on understanding customer needs, investigating challenges, and using evidence to make informed decisions.

                    • Bias Toward Action: Team members are encouraged to take initiative, test ideas, and share lessons from both successes and failures.

                    • Caring Mentality: A commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences while supporting colleagues and working collaboratively.

                    • Founder Mindset: Employees are expected to take ownership, challenge conventional approaches, and contribute beyond the boundaries of their roles.

                    • Transparency: Open communication about results, challenges, and learnings helps the team improve together.

                    • Efficiency: A focus on building sustainable, effective growth processes and prioritizing initiatives that create meaningful business value.
