Product Marketing Manager
Description
JOB TITLE: Product Marketing Manager
DEPARTMENT: Marketing
REPORTS TO: Chief Marketing Officer
DIRECT REPORTS: None. Individual contributor role
POSITION TYPE: Full time, exempt
LOCATION: Lambda Chi Alpha Office of Administration, Carmel, IN (on site)
SUMMARY
Lambda Chi Alpha seeks a Product Marketing Manager to advance Building Better Men by connecting the needs of young men with the value of our member development programs. This role owns the positioning, messaging and launch plans for Lambda Chi Academy, Stead Leadership College, Foundations of Brotherhood and related programs, and equips staff and volunteers to explain those programs with confidence.
Working closely with the People Development Team, this individual contributor role makes programs understandable and relevant to chapter leaders and members, High Pis, advisors and volunteers, and staff. As programs mature and outcome evidence becomes available, the role extends to alumni, campus partners, higher education leaders and employers. This role is a peer to the Marketing Manager. The Product Marketing Manager owns what we say about member development programs. The Marketing Manager owns how and when marketing gets made, published and measured.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Positioning and Messaging
- Define who each program is for, what need it meets and why it matters, in plain language that members, volunteers and staff can repeat.
- Connect programs to the needs of young men, including belonging, healthy relationships, responsibility, well being, leadership and career readiness.
- Build and keep current a message guide for each program, using curriculum, participant feedback and assessment results from People Development.
- Make sure every claim about program results or the value of a certification is accurate, supported by evidence, and approved by People Development before it is published.
Launch and Campaign Planning
- Own the launch plan for each program, including audiences, timing, channels, calls to action and how success will be measured.
- Write the core content for campaigns, including emails, program descriptions, web copy, presentations and member stories.
- Submit design, publishing and distribution requests through the marketing intake process run by the Marketing Manager.
- Partner with People Development on virtual open houses, demonstrations and recurring video or podcast content.
Staff and Volunteer Enablement
- Treat Lambda Chi Alpha staff as a stakeholder group. Brief staff before and after program launches and changes so they know what is changing, why, and what to say.
- Provide talking points, one page summaries and answers to common questions so staff, High Pis and advisors can explain programs accurately.
- Gather questions and barriers from staff and volunteers and bring them back to People Development.
- General marketing updates for staff come from the Marketing Manager.
Audience Insight and Results
- Use audience research, participant feedback and assessment results to improve messaging and close gaps in understanding.
- Share stories of members applying what they learn in chapters, on campus, in communities and at work.
- Report on participation and awareness each quarter. As research data becomes available, report documented learning outcomes and keep course completion separate from evidence of growth or behavior change.
- As certifications mature, gather feedback from campus partners and employers and explain the skills a certification represents.
Working with the Marketing Manager
- The Product Marketing Manager sets the audience, message and plan for member development programs and writes the core content.
- The Marketing Manager schedules, designs, publishes and reports on that work through the shared intake process and campaign calendar.
- The Chief Marketing Officer settles priority conflicts each quarter, not request by request.
