Product Operations Manager, Orthopaedics
Do you want to lead and care for the team behind one of medtech's most ambitious orthopaedic product portfolios, and own the operational engine that lets us move faster than the rest of the industry?
Sectra Orthopaedics is building the orthopaedic software platform of the future. We provide tools that help physicians diagnose, treat and follow up musculoskeletal disorders to leading hospitals and clinics across the globe. We're now scaling the way we work: a growing team, more parallel programmes, shorter release cycles and deeper AI integration in how we work and what we ship.
We're hiring a Product Operations Manager to take the people-leadership and operational load that today sits with our VP Products & Services. First and foremost you'll lead and develop the P&S team: a small group of product developers and operations engineers, growing as we add additional capabilities and bandwidth. At Sectra, leading a team means owning its wellbeing, culture, and career development. Alongside that, you'll keep the many small initiatives that move our strategy forward running in parallel, and you'll be our go-to person for regulatory and compliance matters. Product strategy stays with the VP P&S, so you can focus on the people and the execution.
This is not a traditional management or ops role. We're a tight team building in a heavily regulated industry, and we expect our operations to be human-centric yet AI-native by design. You will both adopt and shape this way of working.
In this position you will:
- Lead, develop, and care for the Sectra Orthopaedics P&S team (product owners, UX designers, developers, and operations engineers): career development, wellbeing, performance, recruiting, and culture, fostering trust, discovery discipline, and shipping pace
- Keep many small initiatives moving in parallel as part of the team's day-to-day operational rhythm: development efforts, deployment and support work, regulatory submissions as well as M&A and partnership initiatives
- Be the go-to person for regulatory and compliance at Sectra Orthopaedics, doing much of the documenting and process implementation around cybersecurity, change management, post-market surveillance, and related areas, partnering closely with our own experts as well as Sectra's central regulatory and quality teams
- Build an AI-native operating practice that makes the team faster without sacrificing rigour
- Partner with the VP P&S on strategic direction, partnership work, and the long-term shape of the team
At Sectra, we hire for attitude and ability - train for skill. This means who you are is more important than your previous experiences. There are a few core abilities that are central for any role. We always look for your willingness and ability to learn and take on new tasks fast, utilize previous experiences and quickly grasp new information. We also want you to have a strong analytical mindset in which we consider it to be important that you can understand and break down and solve problems. We also look for good communicators who have the ability to interact with colleagues, partners and customers in an effective, clear and constructive way.
In addition to these abilities, we also want you to:
- Have genuine people-leadership ability: high emotional intelligence, a track record of developing individuals, giving honest feedback, and building team trust and wellbeing
- Have 5+ years of professional experience, including several years of direct line management
- Have strong operational discipline and a track record of keeping many parallel work threads on track in a software environment
- Have comfort and interest in the document side of regulated software. We don't expect you to be an expert in any specific standard but to have a proven willingness to adopt, interpret and work within a regulatory framework
- Be a fluent English and Swedish speaker. While we're a highly international team, we find that discussing the most sensitive matters around personnel and compliance is best done in our native tongue so that important nuance is fully conveyed
- Have the technical literacy to converse fluently with engineers and comprehend the work that they do
You will not own product strategy in this role - that stays with the VP P&S and flows directly to the product owners. We're looking for someone who is energised by leading people and running great operations, not someone seeking a product-direction seat.
We consider it a great asset if you:
- Have a software engineering background and experience with enterprise IT and cloud
- Have worked with AI-assisted operations workflows or want to build them
- Have orthopaedic, MSK, or imaging IT domain experience
- Have experience growing a team from one to multiple delivery units
- Have helped coordinate partnership, M&A, or due-diligence work
- Have experience working with medtech and/or cybersecurity standards
Other information:
