About the Opportunity
Our client is an established international business operating within the aviation sector, currently investing in the development and commercialization of a new digital and IoT-enabled solution.
The technology combines connected devices with a software platform to provide aviation customers with greater visibility and operational intelligence across their equipment and assets.
As part of this development, they are looking for a Product Owner – Digital Solutions to take ownership of an existing software program and lead its continued development.
This is a broad Product Owner position combining product ownership, software delivery, external development partner management, IoT technology and aviation operations.

The Role
You will own the product roadmap and requirements while coordinating external development resources and internal stakeholders.
A key part of the position will be understanding the operational challenges faced by aviation customers and translating these into practical, commercially relevant digital solutions.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working between customers, commercial stakeholders and technical development teams.

Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership

• Own the product roadmap, release plan, scope and delivery schedule.
• Translate customer and commercial requirements into a prioritised development backlog.
• Maintain visibility of overall program status for senior stakeholders.
• Identify and escalate delivery risks.
• Manage dependencies across software, connectivity and connected hardware.
• Prioritise requirements and make functional trade-offs within agreed parameters.

Software Delivery & Partner Management

• Manage relationships with external software development partners.
• Define deliverables, acceptance criteria and development milestones.
• Establish appropriate governance around software delivery.
• Lead progress reviews, acceptance testing, defect management and change control.
• Hold development partners accountable for quality and delivery.
• Ensure clear ownership of issues across multiple technical stakeholders.
• Maintain appropriate standards around documentation, intellectual property, data and software ownership.

Technical Governance

• Ensure appropriate Agile and CI/CD development practices are followed.
• Review software testing, release processes and delivery quality.
• Establish appropriate requirements around scalability, availability, performance and data management.
• Monitor cloud infrastructure requirements and costs.
• Ensure appropriate information security and data protection standards.

Customer & Requirements Management

• Work directly with aviation customers to understand operational requirements.
• Translate operational challenges into clear functional specifications.
• Understand how IoT and operational data can improve asset management and decision-making.
• Support commercial teams during proposals, tenders and customer discussions.
• Feed learning from customer deployments into future product development.
• Support early customer implementations when required.

Candidate Profile
Essential

• Experience within aviation, air cargo, ground handling, aviation technology or a closely related environment.
• Understanding of aviation asset or equipment management processes.
• Experience managing significant software development programs.
• Proven experience managing external development partners or outsourced software suppliers.
• Experience taking ownership of an existing development program and establishing structure and control.
• Good understanding of Agile software development and CI/CD practices.
• Understanding of IoT, connected devices, telemetry or data-driven platforms.
• Strong requirements gathering and stakeholder management capability.
• Experience working across international and distributed teams.
• Ability to challenge technical suppliers while maintaining productive relationships.
• Professional fluency in English.
• Ability to travel internationally.

• Experience with cloud-based software platforms.
• Understanding of software architecture and database concepts.
• Exposure to IoT device fleets and connectivity technologies.
• Experience with telemetry or asset-management platforms.
• Understanding of AI applications within software or data platforms.
