Summary

PCI Pal is hiring a Product Owner to own the backlog and day-to-day product decisions for self-service onboarding in its SaaS payments security product. The role involves discovery, defining user stories and acceptance criteria, working closely with engineering, and using AI tools and data to guide decisions, hybrid from London (2 office days/week).

We are looking for a Product Owner to join our international Product Team. Your initial focus will be self-service onboarding: helping customers get started faster, complete more of the process independently and reduce their reliance on manual support. Your area of focus may change as business priorities and the team structure evolve.
Reporting to the Lead Product Manager – Core Team, you will own the backlog and day-to-day product decisions for your area, working together to define priorities, outcomes and roadmap direction.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Professional Services, Sales, Marketing, and Partners and Alliances to understand customer needs and bring improvements to market.

AI supports our approach to product discovery, analysis and delivery. We welcome candidates from product or business analysis backgrounds who have practical experience using AI tools, evaluate outputs critically and use data to guide decisions.

Responsibilities

• Work with customers, users and stakeholders to understand problems, validate proposed solutions and translate findings into clear product requirements.
• Own and prioritise the product backlog, balancing customer value, business goals, evidence and delivery dependencies.
• Define user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring the development team understands the intended outcomes.
• Work closely with Engineering throughout development, providing timely clarification and making product decisions within agreed priorities.
• Define success measures, analyse product and customer data, and use the findings to prioritise improvements and report progress towards agreed outcomes.
• Continuously gather feedback from users and stakeholders to assess delivered changes and inform future decisions.
• Identify dependencies, surface delivery risks and work with relevant teams to resolve blockers.
• Keep teams aligned on product goals, priorities, progress and outcomes.
• Use customer feedback, market insight and product data to identify problems and opportunities, working with product and product marketing leadership.
• Use AI tools to support discovery, requirements analysis and prototyping, evaluating their outputs and sharing effective approaches with the team.
• Work with Product Marketing, Partners and Alliances, Professional Services and Sales to bring your product to market.

Requirements

Essential:

• At least three years’ experience in product ownership, product management or business analysis within a SaaS technology environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and explain priorities and decisions clearly.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise work against customer needs and business goals.
• A self-motivated approach and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience using AI tools in day-to-day work, with the judgement to evaluate outputs critically and a willingness to experiment and share effective approaches.
• Strong data literacy, including the ability to interpret data, define meaningful success measures and use evidence to inform product decisions and assess outcomes.
• An understanding of payments technology, including how APIs connect to third-party services such as payment gateways or open banking providers.
• Based in the UK, within commutable distance of London, and able to work from the London office two days a week, with occasional UK or international travel.

Desirable

• Experience with self-service onboarding products.
• Experience in the contact centre as a service (CCaaS) market.
• Experience developing AI-supported prototypes or personal AI projects.

Benefits

• 25 days’ holiday, rising to 28 days per annum with length of service.
• Medical, dental and optical insurance cover.
• Hybrid working, with an expectation of two days a week at the London office.
• A flexible working environment with friendly and committed colleagues.
• A “work from anywhere” policy for two weeks per year.
• Training and development opportunities.
• Access to an employee assistance programme and wellbeing support hub.
• A rewards platform offering discounts, cashback and savings.
• Ad hoc team events, incentives and competitions.
