Summary
A hybrid Product Owner / Project Manager role based in Canada: own the product backlog and requirements while hands-on managing delivery (scope, timelines, budgets, risks) across business, creative, technical, and client-facing teams in a lean digital product environment, with an emphasis on Agile practices and using AI tools to improve planning and delivery.
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Product Owner / Project Manager based in Canada.
This hybrid product and delivery role sits at the intersection of product ownership, agile execution, and stakeholder management. You will own product requirements and backlog priorities while providing hands-on project management leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle. Working across business, creative, technical, and client-facing teams, you will turn complex needs into clear requirements and actionable deliverables. You will help coordinate multiple workstreams, manage dependencies, and create the structure needed for successful project execution. The role offers broad exposure to digital products, experience platforms, analytics, content, technology, and AI-enabled ways of working. Accountabilities:
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities remain aligned with business objectives, user needs, and delivery goals.
- Gather, analyze, and synthesize requirements from client stakeholders, project partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, functional requirements, and actionable development deliverables.
- Facilitate backlog refinement and readiness activities, ensuring upcoming work is sufficiently defined and validated for efficient implementation.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, and maintain alignment throughout delivery.
- Support end-to-end project management by tracking scope, timelines, budgets, dependencies, milestones, and delivery commitments.
- Coordinate activities across client teams, external agencies, and internal delivery functions, ensuring effective collaboration across multiple workstreams.
- Facilitate project planning, status reporting, stakeholder communications, governance activities, and delivery reviews.
- Identify risks, blockers, and dependencies early, driving mitigation, escalation, and resolution to keep projects moving forward.
- Monitor delivery progress and help ensure commitments are achieved on time and within agreed parameters.
- Act as a key liaison between business, creative, and technical teams, creating transparency and alignment across stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, backlog reviews, and stakeholder meetings to drive decisions and maintain momentum.
- Balance product ownership and project delivery responsibilities within a lean, integrated team structure.
- Contribute to a collaborative, outcome-focused culture built around continuous improvement and effective delivery.
- Explore and apply AI tools to improve requirements management, planning, documentation, analysis, and overall delivery effectiveness.
- Experience working as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Project Manager, or in a blended product and delivery role.
- Strong experience managing product backlogs, gathering requirements, and supporting agile product development and delivery.
- Proven ability to translate complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements and deliverables.
- Strong stakeholder-management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams within digital product, technology, or experience-focused environments.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies, software development lifecycles, backlog management, and modern delivery practices.
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, operational detail, and competing priorities.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Comfortable facilitating workshops, discussions, and alignment sessions with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong ability to create clarity, manage ambiguity, and maintain momentum across complex projects.
- AI-native mindset or demonstrated willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, analysis, planning, documentation, and delivery outcomes.
- Commitment to experimentation, continuous learning, and modern ways of working.
- Experience with digital experience platforms, customer-facing products, or marketing technology ecosystems is an asset.
- Familiarity with analytics, content strategy, or experience design disciplines is a plus.
- Experience collaborating with external agencies and distributed teams is advantageous.
- Certifications such as CSPO, PSPO, PMP, or equivalent are considered an asset.
- Candidates must be based in Ontario, Montreal, or Quebec.
- Annual salary of $90,000–$120,000 CAD, depending on experience and location.
- Full-time position based in Canada.
