Our Engineering Team is seeking a Product Systems Engineer to support the full range of our hardware and software products. You will be responsible for end-to-end systems engineering of our cutting-edge tactical radio products, from requirements definition, through design, integration, debug, verification/validation, and on to post-release support. You will develop deep knowledge of the hardware and software components in our embedded system architecture and leverage that knowledge to make system design decisions and triage error behavior. This is a hands-on role for system operation at the user level (configure, connect, operate, etc.) as well as at the developer level (instrument, characterize, debug, enhance, etc.).

The essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead, execute, and support system engineering tasks
- Coordinate with Business Development and Product Management to define product requirements and features.
- Decompose system requirements into subsystem requirements for efficient implementation in hardware, FPGA, DSP, and microprocessor-based subsystems.
- Lead the development of system architecture and design for complex communication systems across RF, PHY, MAC, networking, and application layers.
- Collaborate with subsystem leads to ensure that requirements are complete, well-communicated, and understood. Support detailed design questions from developers throughout implementation.
- Monitor development progress to identify implementation risks and work with subsystem leads to minimize project impacts.
- Develop integration and validation strategy and plans in conjunction with system test leadership to ensure that product requirements are verified efficiently as development progresses.
- Oversee software product validation to ensure that requirements are met.
- Support system-level debug efforts to resolve complex issues efficiently.
- Collaborate with hardware and manufacturing teams to define manufacturing test and calibration requirements and identify critical process parameters.
- Oversee manufacturing ramp and monitor critical production data to ensure quality requirements are being met.
- Support internal and external customers
- Provide technical proposal support.
- Lead and participate in technical customer presentations and meetings.
- Work with program management and project engineering leads to define development milestones, schedules, and budgets.
- Provide hands-on technical support to business team and external customers for product trials and demonstrations.
- Lead demonstrations of emerging products and technologies throughout the product development process, from proof-of-concept to final product.
- Author and present technical white papers at customer and industry events to further TrellisWare’s reputation as a communication systems leader.
- Act as a subject matter expert and provide direction, review, and mentoring to other engineering staff.
Education and work experience requirements are:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field of study required. Master’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience with a broad multidisciplinary technical background required. Industry work experience desired, but not required.
- Practical experience with military or commercial wireless products – Examples: Commercial (GSM, CDMA, LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc.), Military (SRW, WNW, MUOS, Link-16, etc.).
- Strong experience in HW/SW product integration, debug, verification, and validation.
To be considered for this position, you would need to meet, at a minimum, the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here:
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking stack.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Familiarity with all components of our embedded system architecture (RF systems, digital modem function, MAC/networking protocols, digital hardware, analog and digital interfaces, embedded real-time firmware, embedded Linux, and security algorithm implementation).
- Expertise in at least one of these domains.
- Ability to abstract complex, technical concepts and communicate them in a clear, relevant, complete manner to others.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and interact with a variety of engineering development teams.
- Ability to collaborate with engineers to define system requirements.
- Ability to devise and implement test strategies that assess all aspects of a system.
- Analytical problem-solving skills.
- Effective execution, prioritization, and decision making.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster relationships with team members based on trust and respect.

TrellisWare Technologies pays competitively according to the market in an individual's geographic location, in addition to their qualifications and experience. The posted range is annually and for individuals located in the San Diego, CA area.
