Production and Repair Manager- Onsite (63597)

About the Position

Plans and manages the overall production activities in the construction of United States Products (USP) and Custom Order Products (COP) items, as well as sales demonstration kits. Responsible for overseeing production schedules and applying performance standards for measuring quality, cost, and delivery. Monitors daily operations to identify and resolve problem areas relating to staffing, scheduling, tooling, quality, and production line arrangement. Engages in strategic planning, working toward continuous improvement using TQM principles and strategies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Manages Production staff and oversees all functions within the Production department, setting and ensuring KPI's are met or exceeded, and that each employee's performance meets or exceeds expectations.
  • Monitors production processes. Initiates and coordinates cost reduction and efficiency activities and inventory control programs, ensuring maximum profitability. Assesses resource requirements to ensure successful completion of goals.
  • Manages material handling processes, ensuring that warehouse layout is designed for maximum efficiency in pulling parts for manufacturing orders. Upgrades and maintains facility layout with best practices utilizing computer system and shelving labelling for optimal parts storage and retrieval.
  • Creates, updates, and reviews BOM (Bill of Materials) and PWI (Production Work Instructions) on new USP items, and ensures new products are in stock on or before their scheduled launch date. Utilizes MRP with help of Data Analyst/Purchasing department to maintain optimal stocking levels to minimize backorders and parts shortages.
  • Monitors production standards and corrects any problems that arise in a timely manner. Notes and implements PWI work instruction improvements as identified by staff, and documents in assigned software.
  • Ensures that health and safety standards are met within the Production department.
  • Coordinates COP orders, either building or assigning them to be built. Creates BOM for new COP items and ensures quality standards meet the same standards as USP items.
  • Coordinates with other departments relating to new product releases, COP's, product issues, or any changes relating to USP/COP products. Builds test fixtures for new USP items.
  • Prepares reports on Production department quality, cost, and delivery metrics and presents for quarterly management review reports.
  • Manages Repair department relating to monitoring KPI's, workflow, and labor resources. Allocates resources as needed between Repair and Production departments to meet delivery schedules in each area.
  • Provides sales demonstration kits as directed by Sales and Technical Services. Schedules, assembles, programs, and tests working Aiphone demonstration kit systems, and packages securely in cases as requested. Assigns to test and repair returned demo kits as necessary.

Additional Responsibilities include the following.

  • Works with outside vendors to ensure quality standards are met. Reports any concerns or issues and use the Corrective Action system for corrections as needed.
  • Maintains and orders stock of non-inventory supplies required to produce USP and COP products.
  • Ensures company quality management system complies through internal audit process.
  • Creates additional or makes improvements to existing test fixtures. Recommends improvements and requests resource needs to improve quality and delivery standards.
  • Meets regularly with Production department to review QCD metrics and discuss/implement TQM initiatives.

Inter-relationship Relationship of position with internal, lateral, and external groups.

Interacts with co-workers as a leader. Works closely with Purchasing and Engineering on product development plans. Member of New Product Planning Committee. Interacts with suppliers and manufacturers.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position may occasionally require exposure to chemical hazards and to the production site where certain conditions require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses and gloves. Company will provide PPE and training. For the most part, ambient room temperatures, lighting and traditional office equipment as found in a typical manufacturing environment, using tools and equipment associated with the electronic industry. Position may require extended work hours and occasional travel to vendor sites.
