Production Engineer
The Role:
As the Production Engineer, reporting to the Sr. Technical Manager, you will execute work in compliance the SI’s ZERO EHS Impact Philosophy. You will be responsible for partnering with cross-functional teams in the implementation of production improvements programs to optimize production.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Ensures EHS compliance and continuous improvement in EHS performance
- Provides technical support for Production troubleshooting, problem-solving, and root cause analysis of process issues
- Provides training on and leads advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving processes
- Works collaboratively with Quality on chemistry related issues & method formulation improvements
- Works cooperatively with site engineering to develops project scopes and process engineering packages for new installations and retrofit of facilities
- Provides technical input for maintenance of raw material usage standards (SAP bill of materials); drives analysis and continuous improvement of raw material utilization (yield performance).
- Provides analysis of equipment time utilization (OEE) and drives continuous improvement.
- Responsible for functional safety execution for assigned processes including process hazard analysis (PHA), Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Management of Change (MOC), Pre-Start-up Safety Reviews (PSSR), and completion of Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
- Provide technical support to basic process control systems (DCS - Yokogawa) to optimize process performance and functionality for the operator. Activities may include: loop-tuning, alarm management, and small configuration tasks.
- Assist production department with creation and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Leads or assist in the incident and near miss investigation processes to mitigate risk or resolve
- Supports the development of KPIs and goals aligned with the PPMC; monitors KPI performance to identify support needs in addressing performance gaps
- Prepare technical progress reports on active projects and initiatives
- Satisfies all Corporate Quality Requirements
- Practices Responsible Care 14001 through active participation in the Responsible Care Management System and adhere to the Guiding Principles of Responsible Care 14001
- Partners to drive LEAN/Six Sigma, continuous improvement of processes and operations for increased productivity and efficiency (Operational Excellence)
- Actively participates in a culture of continuous improvement through collaborative engagement and by providing suggestions in meetings and trainings to improves processes and systems
- Ensures work is accomplished through defined, measured, and continuously improved work processes; proactively identifies and leverages best practices developed across SI
Creating Extraordinary Starts With:
- BS of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering, or demonstrated equivalency
- Minimum of five years of engineering experience in a chemical plant
- Experience in batch, semi-batch, and continuous processing & controls
