Compensation range: $1600 AUD - $2200 AUD / Monthly

Engagement type: Independent Contractor Agreement

Work Schedule: Full-time, This role is expected to align during South Australian business hours (ACST) — non-negotiable

Our client is a South Australian residential and commercial building company with over eleven years of experience driving innovation and quality in the construction industry. The team is passionate about building and has established a strong reputation for delivering exceptional service and quality to clients throughout every stage of the build process.

Role Overview:

The Production Estimator will support the company's residential construction operations by managing the post-sales estimation and procurement process for active builds. The candidate will work exclusively on production estimation once a job has been awarded and released into the build pipeline.

The role is process-oriented and volume-driven, requiring strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple jobs simultaneously, and familiarity with Australian residential construction workflows. The estimator will work closely with the onshore team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and process jobs once released into the production pipeline
  • Issue and manage requests for quotes (RFQs) to subcontractors and suppliers via the company's estimating system
  • Follow up on outstanding quotes and ensure timely receipt
  • Prepare and maintain production budgets for each build
  • Issue purchase orders (POs) in line with approved budgets
  • Track and reconcile costs against budgets throughout the build cycle
  • Liaise with site supervisors and the internal team as needed to clarify scope or resolve variations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within the estimating system
  • Flag any cost overruns, scope changes, or procurement issues to the relevant stakeholder
  • Check invoices against budgets and determine outcomes for discrepancies

Requirements

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, ideally residential, or a directly adjacent sector
  • Experience working with Australian construction businesses or in an Australian-facing role (strongly preferred)
  • Familiarity with the end-to-end production estimating process including RFQs, budget preparation, and purchase order management
  • High proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple active jobs simultaneously
  • Confidence working independently in a remote environment with structured oversight
  • Experience using construction estimating and project management software
  • A stable home office setup with reliable internet

Tools Proficiency:

  • Experience using Sitebook for site documentation, inspections, and project compliance tracking
  • Proficient in Bluebeam Revu for PDF markup, plan review, and quantity takeoffs
  • Comfortable using Trello to manage tasks and track project workflows
  • Strong proficiency across Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data management and cost tracking
