Job Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day production operations, including production schedules, staffing, equipment utilization, quality performance, safety compliance, and continuous improvement efforts. This role ensures products are built on time, within budget, and to required quality standards while providing leadership and direction to production supervisors, leads, and employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily production activities to meet production schedules, customer requirements, and quality standards.
- Assign labor, equipment, materials, and work priorities to optimize throughput, reduce bottlenecks, and maintain efficient workflow across production areas.
- Monitor production output, scrap, rework, downtime, labor efficiency, and other KPIs; communicate performance results and corrective actions to leadership.
- Work with Production Control, Design, Quality, Purchasing, Maintenance, and Logistics to resolve material, equipment, staffing, and scheduling issues.
- Support the transition of new products, prototypes, and process changes into production by coordinating work instructions, tooling, and readiness requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements that reduce waste, improve quality, increase capacity, and strengthen on-time delivery performance.
- Ensure production employees follow standard work, quality procedures, safety requirements, and company policies.
- Participate in production planning, capacity planning, staffing plans, and continuous improvement initiatives that support business goals.
- Prepare the production team for changes in volume, product mix, process requirements, and operational priorities.
- Lead, coach, schedule, and develop production supervisors, leads, and production employees; provide input on staffing needs, training requirements, attendance, discipline, and performance management.
- Ensure production areas comply with applicable safety, quality, environmental, and housekeeping requirements.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
