Job Summary
The
Production Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling
pharmaceutical manufacturing operations to ensure production targets are met
with high quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role leads
production teams, drives continuous improvement, and ensures adherence to cGMP,
SOPs, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Plan and execute production
schedules to meet business and customer requirements
- Ensure optimal utilization
of manpower, equipment, and materials
- Monitor production
performance, yields, and downtime
- Coordinate with Planning,
QA, QC, Engineering, and Warehouse
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with cGMP,
SOPs, data integrity, and regulatory guidelines (USFDA, EU-GMP, WHO,
etc.)
- Review and approve batch
manufacturing and packing records
- Handle deviations, OOS/OOT,
change controls, and CAPA in coordination with QA
- Lead and support internal,
customer, and regulatory audits
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop
production supervisors and officers
- Ensure adequate training on
SOPs, GMP, safety, and operational excellence
- Manage shift operations and
workforce planning
- Drive a culture of
accountability, quality, and continuous improvement
Safety, EHS & Housekeeping
- Ensure compliance with EHS
policies and safety standards
- Promote 5S, lean
manufacturing, and safe work practices
- Investigate and address
incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions

Continuous Improvement & Cost Control
- Identify opportunities for
process optimization and cost reduction
- Improve productivity, cycle
time, and yield
- Support technology
transfers, scale-up, and new product introductions
Qualifications
Education
- B.Pharm / M.Pharm / B.Sc /
M.Sc (Chemistry or relevant discipline)
Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in
pharmaceutical manufacturing
- Minimum 3–5 years in a Production
Manager / Senior Production role
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical
manufacturing processes
- Excellent understanding of cGMP
and regulatory requirements
- Leadership, decision-making,
and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and
cross-functional coordination abilities
- Ability to manage
high-pressure production environments
