PRODUCTION PLANNING MANAGER

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Production Planning Manager organizes production according to demand. They ensure products are produced on time and are well-versed in production procedures and ways to optimize them. They are organized and results-driven with great problem-solving skills, delegating as practical to their direct reports. The goal is to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of our production operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Organizes production schedule according to work order specifications, established priorities, and availability or capability of workers, parts, material, machines, and equipment.
2. Works with the production team and sales to set promise dates for new orders.
3. Provides routing assistance for new parts.
4. Maintains, coordinates and monitors performance of the daily and weekly schedule for all areas in the shop including the review of available capacity and priorities.
5. Ensures timely preparation and submission of status and progress reports and related data required.
6. Assist in or assume primary responsibility for preparing an effective and easily understood Equipment Schedule and maintain knowledge of key project milestones.
7. Ensure compliance to schedule and manage appropriation of resources required to meet on time delivery requirements.
8. Manage communications for schedule disruptions.
9. Manage expeditors to ensure material and components reach work areas in a timely manner.
10. Perform other duties as assigned

TRAVEL: Less than 5% (Likely for training purposes only)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
2. Broad knowledge of machining operations (mill, lathe, grinding, etc.)
3. Broad knowledge of fabrication operations (burn table, welding, etc.)
4. Microsoft Office - Word, Outlook, Excel
5. Infor Visual experience is a plus
6. Highly motivated with a positive attitude
7. Self-starter, collaborator, high work ethic, with a “hands-on” approach
8. Familiarity with Lean Principles is a plus
9. Versatile and able to perform and coordinate multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment
10. Strong analytical skills with a disciplined approach to planning/scheduling
11. Must be able to interact as a team member with various departments from sales to final production assembly.
