Production Shift Supervisor

Essential Functions of the Job:

• Manage Mill Technicians to ensure accurate time management, scheduling, training, and meeting KPI’s including mill goals, production, quality and on-grade up-time
• Compliance with all HR policies, SOP’s and collective bargaining agreement.
• Safety and environmental compliance through training, meetings and enforcement of safety and environmental policies.
• Responsible for new employee orientation, training, and daily toolbox talks
• Works with crew members and maintenance team to perform root cause failure analysis [RCFA] for paper breaks and mechanical failures
• Assesses individual training needs and plans training
• Plans employee work schedules to meet production needs
• Works with the Production Manager to plan and execute mill maintenance shutdowns
• Maintains equipment through assuring basic care rounds, operator maintenance, housekeeping and effective use of maintenance resources are completed.
• Champions continuous improvement processes and equipment reliability
• Communication among crew members, other Shift Supervisors and management through shift turnover, breakout meeting and daily reporting.
• Works with crew members to resolve issues or complaints; communicates concerns with the Production Manager and Human Resources Manager if necessary
• Other functions that may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 15 non-exempt Mill Technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
