Job Overview

The Production Technologist is responsible for supporting production optimization, well performance improvement, and integrated asset development activities for customer operations in Algeria. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, this role analyzes production, reservoir, completion, and well performance data to identify production constraints and recommend practical optimization opportunities that maximize hydrocarbon recovery and asset value.

The Production Technologist collaborates closely with reservoir engineers, geologists, petrophysicists, drilling and completion engineers, operations personnel, and customer representatives to deliver integrated technical solutions. The role also supports production surveillance, well diagnostics, artificial lift optimization, intervention candidate selection, and mature field development while ensuring compliance with Weatherford's HSE, Quality, and operational excellence standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze production, well, reservoir, completion, and surface network data to evaluate well performance, identify production constraints, and support production optimization initiatives.
  • Perform production surveillance, production decline reviews, well diagnostics, and integrated asset performance evaluations using production history, pressure data, well tests, production logs, and reservoir surveillance information.
  • Support production enhancement studies by identifying opportunities for artificial lift optimization, stimulation, workovers, water and gas management, production debottlenecking, and well intervention.
  • Perform nodal analysis, inflow and outflow performance evaluation, well deliverability assessments, and production system analysis to improve production efficiency.
  • Integrate geological, petrophysical, reservoir, completion, and production data to develop practical technical recommendations that improve asset performance.
  • Collaborate with reservoir engineers, geoscientists, drilling and completion engineers, production operations, and field personnel to execute multidisciplinary technical studies and production improvement projects.
  • Prepare production performance reports, technical evaluations, opportunity rankings, production forecasts, engineering presentations, and client deliverables.
  • Utilize production engineering software, surveillance platforms, and data analytics tools to monitor well performance, support technical decision-making, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support client workshops, technical reviews, production optimization studies, and field performance assessments while maintaining strong customer relationships.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by documenting technical workflows, lessons learned, best practices, and production optimization methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with Weatherford's Health, Safety, Environment (HSE), Quality, Security, Corporate Compliance, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal stakeholders and customers to ensure successful project execution, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate financial responsibility by utilizing company resources efficiently and supporting cost-effective production optimization solutions.
  • Actively participate in technical development, knowledge sharing, training programs, and continuous professional growth.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of production technology, production engineering, reservoir engineering, and integrated asset management.
  • Knowledge of production optimization, production surveillance, well performance evaluation, and mature field development.
  • Experience analyzing production history, pressure data, production logs, well tests, completion data, and reservoir surveillance information.
  • Working knowledge of nodal analysis, inflow and outflow performance, well deliverability analysis, artificial lift optimization, stimulation candidate selection, workover evaluation, and intervention planning.
  • Understanding of reservoir characterization, petrophysics, geology, completion engineering, and production operations.
  • Experience integrating multidisciplinary subsurface and production datasets to develop practical production enhancement recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to support customer-facing technical engagements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and production engineering, surveillance, visualization, and data analytics software.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams within a dynamic, client-focused environment.
  • Strong commitment to operational excellence, continuous improvement, safety, quality, and customer service.

Qualifications :

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or a related subsurface discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Production Technology, Production Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Well Performance Analysis, Production Optimization, or Integrated Asset Management.
  • Experience supporting production surveillance, well performance evaluation, production optimization, and field performance reviews.
  • Knowledge of artificial lift systems, production system analysis, nodal analysis, well intervention, production enhancement, and mature field optimization.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams involving reservoir engineering, geology, petrophysics, drilling, completions, and production operations.
  • Proficiency in production engineering software, surveillance platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting customer-facing production optimization studies, integrated asset management projects, and technical consulting engagements.
  • Experience with production engineering and reservoir software such as PIPESIM, Prosper, GAP, OFM, KAPPA, Eclipse, CMG, Petrel, Techlog, or equivalent production surveillance and data analytics platforms.
  • Experience with artificial lift optimization, production forecasting, workover candidate screening, stimulation evaluation, water and gas management, and production enhancement campaigns.
  • Experience working in North Africa, the Middle East, or similar operating environments.
  • Professional certifications or advanced training in Production Engineering, Reservoir Engineering, Artificial Lift, Production Optimization, or Integrated Asset Management.
  • Fluency in English is required; French and/or Arabic language skills are considered an advantage.
