Summary
This position is responsible for oiling, drying, staking, buffing, grooming and drumming hides, turning and dunking wet tans. This position helps in receiving and during first check. This department is the last step in the tanning process and is in charge of finishing the product before they are picked up or shipped to our customers.
Essential Functions
- Maintain a positive consistency in the following five attributes. Quality, Attitude, Teamwork, Production, and Attendance
- Differentiate between species
- Oil animal skins
- Operate buffing machine to soften and clean leather, primarily fine fur skins
- Groom hides to clean hair before returning to customer
- Operate a staking machine to soften leather
- Stretch and turn faces to soften leather
- Operate the drum and cages to clean leather and hair of hides
- Turning and dunking wet tans
- Perform first sort/first check on finished hides
- Box wet tans and dry tans
- Create item fulfillments for wet tans
- Check in orders in receiving from UPS, USPS, FedEx, skinning, truck runs, drop offs, etc.
- Punch hides
- Abide by the chemical information sheets
- Participate in Safety/Loss Control Programs as determined by EMC Insurance and The Wildlife Gallery
- Perform other relative duties assigned by supervisors or managers
