PROFESSIONAL LEARNING SPECIALIST

About the Position: This position is located in DoWEA, Pacific Office of the Director, Center for Instructional Leadership in Sobe, Japan. Federal employees in Sobe are currently entitled to receive a 0% Post Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary.

Provide guidance to district and school leadership teams to develop goals that are aligned to DoWEA’s missions, beliefs, and priorities.

Create master schedules to ensure a consistent instructional day for students and collaborative time for job-embedded learning for teachers.

Implement and sustain a collaborative coaching approach for district and school leaders to become more reflective practitioners and support their roles as instructional leaders.

Plan and prioritize actions to build capacity for district/school stakeholders to promote education standards driven instruction, innovative practices, and professional growth.

Support human capital development by implementing teacher to leader development pipelines.

Develop and administer a research agenda to identify, replicate, and catalog best practices.

Coordinate instructional programs and services to ensure efficient implementation and avoid duplication/overlap of efforts.

Coordinate instructional programs to support a systemic approach and avoid duplication of efforts.

Utilize research results and accountability data regarding leadership, instructional programs, school climate, and school improvement strategies to formulate recommendations.

Link professional development to a change in practice.

Conduct root cause analysis and identify discrepancies between goals and current status.

Facilitate vertical and horizontal communication between and among all grade levels.

Recommend and implement data-driven, research-based school improvement plans and instructional leadership.
