Professional Services Delivery Manager
Description
About the Role:
An opportunity exists for an experienced Professional Services Delivery Manager to lead a team of 20 ERP functional and technical consultants responsible for software implementations, upgrades, enhancements and ongoing customer delivery.
This is a genuine people leadership and commercial management role, rather than a traditional IT infrastructure or service desk management position.
You will take ownership of service delivery performance, develop the consulting capability of the team and introduce more consistent ways of working. Equally important will be your ability to build trusted customer relationships, improve delivery predictability and ensure the function meets its financial and operational commitments.
The opportunity will suit an established ERP consulting or professional services leader who enjoys developing people, improving business processes and creating a commercially focused, customer-first delivery culture.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Lead and develop the consulting team: Manage, coach and mentor approximately 20 to 25 consultants, setting clear expectations, improving performance and building technical, consulting and leadership capability.
- Drive ERP service delivery: Oversee the delivery of ERP implementations, upgrades, module deployments, enhancements and customer requests, ensuring work is appropriately resourced and delivered to agreed standards.
- Own commercial performance: Manage budgets, revenue, profitability, utilisation, forecasting and operational KPIs, taking action where performance falls below expectations.
- Improve consulting practices: Introduce consistent delivery methods, processes, tools and governance to strengthen project quality, efficiency and accountability.
- Build a consulting mindset: Develop the team's ability to understand customer requirements, facilitate workshops, scope solutions, prepare statements of work and communicate effectively with business stakeholders.
- Strengthen customer relationships: Engage directly with customers to understand business challenges, resolve escalations, manage expectations and deliver practical outcomes.
- Develop future capability: Lead workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, knowledge sharing and succession planning to build a sustainable and capable consulting function.
- Work across the business: Collaborate with project management, sales, account management, customer service, technical teams and finance to align resources, customer commitments and business priorities.
- Support solution design: Contribute your ERP and consulting expertise to solution discussions, complex customer requirements and targeted consulting activities where appropriate.
Key measures include:
- Achieving budgeted revenue, profitability and utilisation targets.
- Improving delivery predictability, SLA performance, productivity and backlog management.
- Maintaining strong customer satisfaction while reducing avoidable escalations, disputes and rework.
- Establishing consistent consulting standards, delivery processes and operational controls.
- Building a capable, engaged and accountable team with clear development and succession plans.
- Improving the quality of customer discovery, solution scoping and statements of work.
- Strengthening collaboration between consulting, project delivery, sales and customer-facing teams.
About You:
You may currently be working as a Professional Services Manager, ERP Delivery Manager, Consulting Manager, Practice Manager, Head of Delivery or in a similar leadership position within a software vendor, systems integrator or technology consulting organisation.
You understand how ERP solutions support business operations and can engage confidently with customers across finance, procurement, inventory, maintenance, asset management and other core business functions.
Just as importantly, you know how to lead consultants, manage competing priorities and balance customer expectations with commercial outcomes.
You are comfortable having conversations about utilisation, margin, delivery quality and team performance, while remaining approachable, collaborative and focused on developing others.
You bring a structured approach to problem-solving, sound judgement under pressure and the confidence to challenge existing practices constructively.
Must-Have Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated experience leading an ERP professional services, enterprise applications or software consulting delivery team, ideally within a software vendor, systems integrator or consulting environment.
- Strong experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, Infor, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, IFS, Pronto Xi or comparable enterprise business applications.
- Sound understanding of ERP functional modules, particularly general ledger, financial management, asset management, maintenance or related business processes.
- Proven people leadership experience, including performance management, coaching, mentoring, recruitment and team development.
- Commercial management experience covering consulting revenue, budgets, utilisation, profitability, forecasting and delivery KPIs.
- Experience overseeing software implementations, upgrades, enhancements and ongoing application delivery for business customers.
- Ability to engage directly with end users and senior stakeholders, facilitate requirements discussions, scope work and develop clear statements of work.
- Experience introducing delivery improvements, consulting standards, operational controls or organisational change.
- Strong working knowledge of ITIL service management principles and recognised project management methodologies such as PRINCE2 or PMBOK.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation and customer problem-solving skills.
- A relevant qualification in Business, Commerce or Information Technology, or equivalent practical industry experience.
Bonus Points For:
- Previous experience working with Pronto Xi ERP.
- Experience supporting customers in mining, mining services, resources or asset-intensive industries.
- Knowledge of enterprise asset management, maintenance management or complex operational software environments.
- ITIL, PRINCE2, PMP or related professional certifications.
- Experience developing consulting capability, improving knowledge transfer and implementing succession planning.
- A postgraduate qualification in business, commerce or finance.
- Established professional relationships across enterprise software, consulting or relevant industry sectors.
Why Join?
You will have the scope to influence how the team operates, improve delivery standards and build capability for the future, rather than simply maintain existing processes.

- Meaningful leadership responsibility
- Opportunity to shape the function
- An established customer base
- Varied enterprise software exposure
- Strong stakeholder engagement
- A focus on people development
