The Professor of Practice at MIET Jammu shall bring significant industry expertise into academia to enhance practice-oriented learning, industry readiness, and innovation among students. The position aims to strengthen academia–industry collaboration, enhance employability skills, and support curriculum enrichment in line with AICTE guidelines.


Key Responsibilities:


1. Teaching and Curriculum Development

  • Deliver lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical sessions in specialized and emerging areas.

  • Design and update curriculum aligned with industry trends and skill requirements.

  • Introduce practice-oriented courses, case studies, and real-world problem-solving modules.

  • Contribute to pedagogical innovations including experiential learning, project-based learning, and outcome-based education.

  • Mentor students in capstone projects, internships, and skill development initiatives.

  • Support interdisciplinary course development and industry-aligned electives.


2. Industry Integration & Practice-Oriented Learning

  • Facilitate industry interaction through guest lectures, workshops, and masterclasses.

  • Establish linkages with industry partners for internships, live projects, and placements.

  • Provide insights on current industry practices, tools, and technologies.

  • Guide students on professional competencies, career pathways, and skill requirements.

  • Assist in identifying industry certifications relevant to academic programs.


3. Research, Innovation & Collaboration (Desirable)

  • Promote applied research and innovation in collaboration with industry partners.

  • Support development of patents, prototypes, consultancy projects, and technology transfer.

  • Encourage participation in funded projects, incubation initiatives, and startup ecosystem.

  • Facilitate collaborative research opportunities with academic institutions, R&D organizations, and industry experts.

  • Contribute to research publications, white papers, and technical reports (where applicable).


4. Academic Leadership and Administration

  • Contribute to academic planning, curriculum review, and program development.

  • Serve on departmental committees, Boards of Studies, and advisory panels.

  • Provide guidance on emerging technology areas and future skill requirements.

  • Assist in strengthening accreditation, ranking, and quality assurance initiatives.

  • Support institutional initiatives related to NEP implementation and industry-aligned programs.


5. Community Engagement and Outreach

  • Participate in extension activities, knowledge-sharing sessions, and faculty development programs.

  • Engage with professional bodies, industry associations, and government agencies.

  • Contribute to outreach initiatives such as skill development programs, innovation challenges, and social impact projects.

  • Deliver expert talks in seminars, conferences, and professional forums.



Requirements

Requirements / Eligibility Criteria


  • Distinguished professional, industry expert, scientist, entrepreneur, or practitioner with significant professional achievements.

  • Typically 10–15 years of industry or professional experience in a relevant domain.

  • Individuals from reputed industries, PSUs, research organizations, government bodies, or global institutions may be considered.

  • Post-graduate degree or Ph.D. is desirable but may be relaxed for candidates with exceptional professional expertise.

  • Demonstrated contribution to innovation, policy, consulting, or leadership roles in the domain.

  • Strong communication and mentoring abilities.
