Boone Memorial Health is seeking a passionate, organized, and mission-driven Program Coordinator to lead Growing Futures @ Market on Main, an innovative youth prevention and mentoring program serving at-risk youth ages 8–13 in southern West Virginia.
This is a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping young people build resilience, confidence, and life skills through mentoring, education, and hands-on greenhouse experiences.
Please Note: This is a full-time, grant-funded position currently funded for one year. Continued employment beyond the initial grant period is dependent upon future grant funding.
What You'll Do
As the Program Coordinator, you'll oversee all aspects of the program, including leadership, mentoring, operations, community partnerships, and program evaluation.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead weekly youth mentoring circles focused on resilience, communication, emotional wellness, and goal setting
- Plan and facilitate engaging educational and life skills programming using evidence-based mentoring practices
- Build positive, supportive relationships with youth participating in the program
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and supervise stipend mentors and program volunteers
- Coordinate greenhouse activities with the Horticulture Instructor
- Manage participant recruitment, orientation, intake, attendance, and ongoing engagement
- Build partnerships with schools, foster care agencies, juvenile justice programs, and community organizations
- Coordinate transportation assistance, supplies, incentives, and special events
- Monitor program outcomes and maintain accurate records, reports, and grant documentation
- Coordinate quarterly community showcase events for youth, families, and community partners
- Ensure compliance with grant requirements and Boone Memorial Health policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Education, Public Health, Human Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- Experience working with youth in mentoring, education, prevention, behavioral health, or social services
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to successfully complete background checks required for working with minors
- Experience coordinating community programs or grant-funded initiatives
- Experience supervising staff or volunteers
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Experience with data collection, reporting, and program evaluation
Position Details
- Full-time, hourly position
- Based at the Greenhouse at Market on Main in Madison, West Virginia
- Some evening and occasional weekend events required
- Local travel within the community and Boone Memorial Health locations may be required
