About the Role

The Community Biking Program Coordinator helps implement programs across Santa Cruz County—including UCSC, the City of Santa Cruz, Live Oak, and Watsonville—with a focus on engaging diverse and underserved communities. This position will work in close collaboration with the Community Bike team, the coordinator will also operate independently to lead outreach, deliver programming, and support evaluation efforts.

What you'll be doing

Community Engagement and Outreach:

  • Conduct outreach with community members, businesses, agencies, and schools.
  • Lead presentations and activities at events such as group rides, bike safety trainings, workshops, and e-bike demos.
  • Coordinate and deliver bike encouragement and active transportation safety programming, including with college students, families including youth, and older adults.

Program Implementation and Operations:

  • Support program delivery by collecting feedback, tracking data, and assisting with reporting.
  • Assist with implementation of bike and e-bike rebate and incentive programs.
  • Contribute to biannual community-wide campaigns promoting active transportation behavior change.

Multilingual Communication and Cultural Accessibility:

  • Present bilingual (English/Spanish) programming to ensure inclusive access.
  • Translate program materials and messaging for Spanish-speaking audiences.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with implementation team to ensure smooth program operations and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Provide logistical and operational support across multiple initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and planning sessions.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 2 years’ related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience may be qualifying.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer program skills, especially in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Web Forms, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Project management experience, with demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, deadlines, and a dynamic work environment.
  • Strong public outreach skills and professional demeanor needed for interacting with the public, community-based organization staff, public agency staff, and representatives from local Santa Cruz County employers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with project management software
  • Experience with community engagement, event organizing, or public speaking

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bike, talk and hear, and use a computer keyboard and monitor.

The environment is a mixture of an office setting and working out in the field (at employer sites and community events). Bicycling to and from events is standard practice, and leading and supporting group bike rides will be a part of this position.
