Leads youth and therapeutic/adaptive recreation programs, ensuring safe and engaging activities for diverse participants, including 1:1 support and event coordination.
As a Program Instructor I in our Youth & Therapeutic program area, you’ll get the opportunity to help support a variety of fun and exciting activities for our community. Whether it’s a thrilling day trip, a hands-on class, or a special event, you’ll help provide an engaging, supportive, and safe environment for participants of all ages and abilities.
As our Program Instructor I, you will perform a variety of duties associated with instructing both youth and therapeutic/adaptive recreation programs.

Anticipated Work Schedule: Part-time to include weekdays and evenings, with weekends as needed. Schedule may vary depending on program specific needs.

Duties And Responsibilities:
General Duties
- Performs a variety of duties associated with instructing or supporting recreation programs for youth and/or individuals with disabilities that may include but is not limited to session-based activities, classes, day trips, special events, volunteer opportunities, outdoor recreation, etc.
- Provides a safe, effective, and supportive learning environment for diverse participants with varying ability levels
- May assist in inclusion and accommodation support for other program areas as needed and may work 1:1 with individuals with disabilities
- Stays abreast of latest trends and techniques in areas of expertise and assists in evaluating class effectiveness and recommends new classes or techniques
- Ensures participants are performing activities correctly and safely
- Assists in modifying and adapting activities for various participant ability levels
- Stays familiar with participants needs and any pertinent medical information
- Maintains confidentiality with participant specific information
- Sets up and takes down required program equipment
- May drive Town-owned vehicles. Operates assigned motor vehicles safely and obeys all applicable traffic laws
- Ensures vehicle is ready for use including, but not limited to, obtaining keys, filling with gas, and cleaning vehicle/inspecting upon return
- Ensures passengers adhere to the correct usage of vehicle safety equipment
Admin duties
- Maintains program related records and reports, including accurate class attendance records and incident reports
- Provides exceptional guest service to all participants. Responds to information requests, comments and complaints from participants
- Maintains frequent communications with other staff within the Community Center and Division and reports any issues or concerns with inventory, facility conditions, policies and incidents to supervisory staff as needed
- Ensures the safety of guests and program participants by enforcing all rules and policies with staff and guests
- Maintains equipment and completes inventory as needed
- Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings
- Performs other related duties as assigned
