About the Opportunity

  • Lead a high-performing multi-disciplinary team delivering discovery, target-state architecture design, dependency mapping, and executive-level business case development for a key Federal Government department.

  • Contract/Engagement: Initial contract through to 30 June 2027 + 12-month extension option.


  • Location & Flexibility: Canberra, ACT (Hybrid working arrangements).

Role & Responsibilities

  • Provide overall program governance and strategic oversight from initial discovery and current-state review through to the final implementation-ready plan.
  • Lead engagement and build consensus across senior executive stakeholders, including Project Sponsors, Senior Leadership, and Architecture Review Boards (ARB).
  • Oversee key program deliverables, including application relocation strategies, data migration plans, target-state operating models, and cutover sequencing.
  • Lead the development of NPP-grade business cases to secure forward funding for future project delivery phases.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate key program risks, issues, and decisions through established governance pathways.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and strategic guidance to team members while maintaining full accountability for the executive quality of all deliverables.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this position, you will ideally bring:

  • Technical Toolkit: Deep knowledge of Commonwealth governance, security, and assurance frameworks (including PSPF, ISM, and Essential Eight), along with NPP business case development expertise.
  • Experience: Proven track record leading major ICT transformation or infrastructure uplift programs within Australian Government environments, ideally with experience migrating systems from OFFICIAL to PROTECTED security domains.
  • Core Capabilities: Outstanding senior executive stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills, with proven ability to influence at the Steering Committee and Architecture Review Board levels.
  • Desirable: Experience conducting independent program health checks, gateway-style reviews, implementation readiness assessments, or ICT procurement and tender evaluations.

Eligibility & Clearance Requirements

  • Security Clearance: Due to the nature of this environment, candidates must hold a current Baseline security clearance or, at minimum, be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain one.
