Program Manager - Banking Transformation - PSU Banking

Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Program Manager with 15 - 18 years of overall experience in managing large-scale banking transformation programs for Indian Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Banks.

The ideal candidate must be a pure-play Program Manager with proven expertise in end-to-end program ownership, governance, delivery management, financial management and senior stakeholder engagement.

Candidates must have started their careers as Java Developers and progressively transitioned through Technical / Solution Architecture roles before moving into Program Management. Strong technical expertise in Java, Microservices, APIs and modern application architecture is essential.

Candidates with only Project Management experience or without Indian PSU Banking exposure will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities:

1. End-to-End Program Management:

- Lead large-scale, complex banking transformation programs for Indian PSU Banks.

- Own program execution from initiation and planning through implementation and production delivery.

- Manage multiple projects, workstreams and cross-functional teams.

- Drive program governance, timelines, milestones, risk management and delivery objectives.

2. Banking Domain & Transformation:

- Manage technology transformation programs across Lending, Loans, Payments and Corporate Banking.

- Work closely with senior banking stakeholders to translate business requirements into technology solutions.

- Ensure alignment of technology delivery with banking processes and business objectives.

3. Technical & Architecture Leadership:

- Leverage a strong technical foundation in Java / J2EE, Microservices and API-led architecture.

- Provide architectural oversight for large-scale banking applications.

- Collaborate with Technical Architects, Solution Architects and engineering teams on solution design and integration.

4. Program Governance & Stakeholder Management:

- Establish program governance frameworks, reporting structures and delivery review mechanisms.

- Manage senior business, banking and technology stakeholders.

- Lead steering committee meetings, executive reviews and escalations.

- Monitor program performance through delivery dashboards, KPIs and metrics.

5. Financial & Delivery Management:

- Own program-level P&L, budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.

- Drive estimation, cost control, resource utilisation and effort management.

- Ensure delivery quality, SLA adherence and operational efficiency.

- Identify program risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- 15 - 18 years of overall IT experience.

- Mandatory experience managing large-scale programs for Indian PSU Banks through IT Services / Technology organisations.

- Strong career progression from Java Developer to Technical / Solution Architect and subsequently Program Manager.

- Excellent expertise in Java, J2EE, Microservices, APIs and modern application architecture.

- Proven experience in end-to-end Program Management and multi-workstream delivery.

- Strong understanding of Lending, Loans, Payments and Corporate Banking.

- Hands-on experience in program governance, P&L ownership, budgeting, estimation and cost management.

- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership and communication skills.

Mandatory Screening Criteria:

- 15 - 18 years of experience ONLY.

- Indian PSU Bank program management experience is mandatory.

- Pure-play Program Management experience; Project Managers are not suitable.

- Java development and Technical / Solution Architecture background.

- Proven ownership of large-scale banking transformation programs.
