Success in this role requires precision over volume — accurate citations, clean formatting, disciplined version control, and clear tracking of where every document stands in the review and approval cycle. The Technical Writing Assistant serves as the day-to-day steward of a large policy library, fielding research requests from government stakeholders, validating the authorities that underpin existing policy, formatting documents to CBP-approved standards, and shepherding materials through routing and concurrence.

- Will conduct independent research and analysis to support the development of new policy.

- Will assist with web content management, including posting, updating, and organizing policy content on CBP sites.
- Must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro to format documents into CBP-approved formats, applying styles, templates, cross-references, tables of contents, bookmarking, and accessibility remediation.
