Position Summary

KBA is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee project delivery, manage client relationships, support business development efforts, and contribute to the continued growth of the firm. This role requires a strategic leader who can secure new work, negotiate contracts, lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor, and deliver complex infrastructure projects on schedule and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator, skilled problem-solver, and trusted advisor with experience managing public infrastructure, construction management, and engineering projects.

Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or night responsibilities as project needs require.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Development, Company Leadership, & Client Management

· Build and maintain strong client relationships.

· Identify and pursue new project opportunities.

· Participate in strategic planning, positioning, and growth initiatives that support the company's long-term success.

· Lead pursuit efforts, including go/no-go decisions and team assembly.

· Collaborate with leadership and marketing teams to track opportunities.

· Support organizational improvements in project management practices and administrative processes.

Proposal & Contract Management

· Lead proposal development, qualifications packages, and interview preparation.

· Manage pursuits from opportunity identification through contract award.

· Negotiate contracts, amendments, pricing, and scope.

· Forecast staffing and subcontractor needs and support project startup activities.

Project Closeout

· Deliver final project documentation and client deliverables.

· Complete project records management and archiving.

· Coordinate project profile development and staff resume updates.

· Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Company Leadership & Team Development

· Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.

· Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to project staff.

· Establish project teams and define roles and responsibilities.

· Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

Education & Certifications

· Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.

· Professional certification preferred (PE, CCM, or similar).

Experience /Skills

· 10+ years of progressive experience in construction management, project management, engineering management, or related infrastructure programs.

· Experience managing public works, municipal infrastructure, transportation, utility, or water/wastewater projects.

· Proven success in client management, business development, and project delivery.

· Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

· Experience developing successful proposals and leading project pursuits.

· Ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and resources simultaneously.

· Proficiency with construction management and project delivery software.

· Strong collaboration skills with clients, contractors, project teams, and executive leadership.

· Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.

· Ability to travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
