Program Manager - Procurement & Process Excellence (SRM), Data Center Procurement Governance (DCPG)
Posted Updated
Description
AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.
The Data Center Procurement Governance (DCPG) function is part of AIS.
Are you passionate about driving best-in-class strategy and governance in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)? Do you have the leadership to be a trusted advisor across a complex, high-growth, global organization — and the hands-on instinct to not just coordinate the work, but design and build the tools and processes that run it?
As Program Manager, Procurement Excellence (SRM) within Data Center Procurement Governance (DCPG), you will play a key role in leading our SRM program in support of Amazon's data center procurement organization.
This is a build-and-own role. Advances in generative AI, low-code, and automation tools have dramatically lowered the barrier to building — and we are looking for a program manager who pairs deep SRM and process knowledge with the technical fluency to design, build, and continuously improve the solutions and automations that run the program, close enough to the process to re-engineer it as needs evolve. You will own outcomes end to end: from deciding what is worth building and why, through building and landing it, to driving the user adoption that makes it stick.
This role involves working with a broad array of procurement practitioners and partner teams in a global, matrixed organization. The ability to make an impact and drive outcomes amid an ambiguous, complex landscape is critical to success. Due to the global nature of the role, flexibility in working across time zones is needed.
Your role includes:
• Refresh, lead, and build our SRM program strategy and operational execution — achieving the optimal mix of business value, governance, and compliance.
• Architect, build, and execute process improvements, controls, and policies that raise the SRM bar globally — re-engineering workflows rather than automating them as-is.
• Design and build AI-enabled and automation solutions end to end on modern low-code and generative-AI platforms — tools that measure supplier performance, monitor risk, and surface insight proactively, not static reports and trackers.
• Be data-fluent: read, interrogate, and judge whether the data behind a decision can be trusted, and build in the right checks so the insight you put in front of leadership is reliable by design.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor on SRM to the procurement organization and partner teams.
• Drive a culture of innovation, simplification, and continuous improvement through best-practice sharing, advocacy, and hands-on delivery.
• Own change management and adoption for what you deliver — enablement, training, feedback loops, and iteration until the solution is the way the work gets done.
• Derive actionable insights and routinely present analysis and recommendations to stakeholders, partners, and senior leadership.
You may also contribute to other improvement and governance projects across DCPG. As a strong individual contributor, you will own significant workstreams end to end and influence across a broad, matrixed stakeholder group.
The ideal candidate has a proven track record delivering global programs in a central governance function of a large-scale procurement organization, with a process-improvement and excellence focus — and increasingly demonstrates hands-on building: re-engineering and automating workflows, building data-driven and AI-enabled tools, and shipping solutions that get adopted. Experience in SRM, supply chain, outsourcing, and/or vendor management, combined with strong digital and solution-building skills, is highly valued.
Key job responsibilities
1. Develop, maintain, and continuously improve a comprehensive SRM governance framework aligned with organizational strategy and industry best practices.
2. Design and implement policies, procedures, and standards for SRM processes — building the process logic into automated and AI-enabled tools rather than static documentation.
3. Establish and manage key performance indicators (KPIs) for SRM process effectiveness and supplier performance, instrumented in self-updating, trustworthy tools.
4. Develop and implement risk monitoring and management strategies for supplier relationships, with automated risk-surfacing where feasible.
5. Create, adapt, and maintain a centralized, well-governed repository for supplier information, contracts, and performance data.
6. Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to ensure alignment and drive measurable adoption of SRM governance practices.
7. Provide subject-matter expertise on complex supplier relationship issues.
8. In conjunction with Compliance and Risk, conduct regular audits of SRM processes and supplier engagements to ensure adherence to applicable controls and assurance programs.
9. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the SRM program.
10. Develop and deliver SRM training content and resources for procurement and partner teams.
11. Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices in SRM governance and in applying AI and automation to procurement.
12. Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on the state of SRM governance and its impact on business performance.
A day in the life
• This role has a global scope, so there is no standard day — there is much variety.
• You could start with a morning meeting with US team members, a coffee with APAC, and finish with a call with EMEA.
• You will work on multiple projects across multiple teams and stakeholders — and spend real time building, not only coordinating.
• Your biggest customers will be our data center procurement teams and partner teams such as Construction and Project Managers. Stakeholders also include legal, finance, assurance, health & safety, and other data center colleagues.
• You will be seen as the domain expert in SRM and Supplier Management — and as the person who turns that expertise into working, adopted capability.
