Program Procurement Manager – Land Domain / UGV (m/f/d)
Description
About the role:
You will lead the procurement activities for our Land Domain and Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) programmes, ensuring that supplier, material, cost and capacity requirements are aligned with programme milestones from development through industrialisation and series production.
Working closely with Program Management, Engineering, Strategic Procurement, Operational Procurement, Supplier Quality, Production Planning and Manufacturing, you will translate programme requirements into executable procurement plans, coordinate sourcing and supplier readiness and proactively manage procurement risks that could impact cost, quality, delivery or programme timelines.
What is your Day to Day Mission:
Own the procurement workstream for assigned Land Domain / UGV programmes from development and prototype phases through industrialisation, ramp-up and series production.
Translate programme milestones, BOM requirements, engineering changes and production plans into procurement priorities and executable sourcing activities.
Represent Procurement in programme reviews and act as the central procurement interface for Program Management, Engineering and Operations.
Coordinate Strategic Procurement, Operational Procurement and Supplier Quality activities to ensure sourcing, material and supplier readiness against programme milestones.
Drive supplier nomination and sourcing decisions together with Strategic Procurement, Engineering and Supplier Quality.
Track the procurement status of critical components, assemblies and outsourced manufacturing and proactively escalate risks that could impact programme delivery.
Ensure suppliers are prepared for prototype builds, validation, industrialisation and production ramp-up, including required capacity and lead-time alignment.
Drive purchasing cost transparency and support negotiations, value analysis, value engineering and design-to-cost activities to achieve programme cost targets.
Manage procurement impacts resulting from engineering, specification, volume and supplier changes throughout the product lifecycle.
Anticipate supply continuity, capacity, single-source, long lead-time and end-of-life risks and coordinate appropriate mitigation actions.
Maintain reliable programme procurement data, including sourcing status, supplier nominations, material readiness, cost, capacity and procurement risks.
Improve programme procurement methods, reporting and cross-functional collaboration to support faster and more reliable product introduction.
What you bring to the team:
A degree or vocational qualification in supply chain management, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, business or a comparable field.
At least five years of experience in program procurement, project procurement, strategic procurement or supply chain management within a complex technical environment.
Experience supporting complex hardware products from development and prototype phases through industrialisation, ramp-up and series production.
Strong understanding of sourcing, supplier management, procurement planning, cost management, BOM structures and supply-risk mitigation.
A track record of coordinating procurement activities across Engineering, Quality, Operations and suppliers to achieve demanding programme milestones.
Strong commercial judgement combined with sufficient technical understanding to evaluate supplier capabilities, cost drivers, lead times and supply risks.
The confidence to drive cross-functional decisions, challenge priorities and escalate critical supply risks in a fast-moving matrix organisation.
A hands-on and pragmatic mindset with the ability to balance speed, cost, quality and programme requirements in a rapidly scaling environment.
Experience in defence, aerospace, automotive, robotics, autonomous systems, heavy machinery or another complex industrial hardware environment is an advantage. Experience with UGVs, vehicle systems or land-based autonomous platforms is particularly relevant.
Fluent English and strong German communication skills. Willingness to travel for supplier visits, programme activities and negotiations.
