Program Specialist (Training Coordinator)

The Program Specialist (PS)/Training Coordinator (TC) serves as the PS/TC for the Health Administration Service (HAS) at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS). The primary responsibility of the PS/TC is the development and implementation of the ongoing training programs for employees within the Health Administration Service as well as staff within other services.

Duties include but not limited to: Work as a member of the Health Administration Service (HAS) to develop and administer training programs for the staff of HAS as well as administrative employees throughout the facility, outpatient clinics and CBOCs. Works independently to develop, review, analyze, implement, secure subject matter experts (SME)s, and evaluate training courses and programs related to HAS areas such as Eligibility/Enrollment, Access to Care, Beneficiary Travel, Scheduling, Ward Administration, Admissions, Special Programs, etc. Participates on facility and/or VISN-wide committees representing HAS operations and provides information and assistance to the Education Committee as a representative of HAS. Serves as the Tuition Support Coordinator for HAS. Monitors quality program implementation and indicators designed to verify adherence to requirements, prevent errors, and eliminate ineffective work practices.
