Job Summary

The Programme Assistant supports planning and delivering engaging programmes for seniors, facilitating activities, assisting clients, managing administrative tasks, and coordinating with volunteers and partners to ensure smooth centre operations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing daily programmes and activities that promote active ageing for seniors
  • Facilitate group activities, recreational programmes, exercises, games, and social engagement sessions to enhance client participation
  • Organize festive celebrations, community events, outings, and special projects to foster community involvement
  • Prepare activity materials, equipment, and set up venues to ensure readiness before programmes and events
  • Monitor clients during activities and provide assistance to ensure their safety and engagement
  • Accompany clients during outings and external activities to support their participation and well-being
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and conducive environment for all clients during centre activities
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and programme documentation to support operational needs
  • Collect and support evaluation of programme feedback to improve service delivery
  • Liaise with volunteers, vendors, and community partners to coordinate programme-related matters effectively
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Centre Manager to support centre operations

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • Prior experience in eldercare, healthcare, social services, community care, or event coordination to enhance programme delivery
  • Willingness to learn and actively participate in programme planning and execution to support continuous improvement
  • Positive attitude, patience, caring nature, and service orientation to foster a supportive environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team to achieve centre goals
  • Organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines efficiently
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) to support administrative tasks
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with seniors from diverse backgrounds
  • Physically fit to support activities and accompany seniors during outings when required
