Job Description and Requirements of Programme Counsellor

The Programme Counsellor will recruit students within the Singapore market for CAE programmes, with an initial focus on Counselling Psychology, Special Education, Psychology and WSQ courses.

The role requires thoughtful programme counselling, disciplined lead follow-up and a sound understanding of the needs of local students and adult learners.

Reporting Lines:

This position reports directly to the Programme Manager. The incumbent’s primary roles relate to provide professional consultation and advice to our prospective students on our well-accredited programmes and other tasks as directed by the management team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Promote relevant CAE programmes to prospective students in Singapore through enquiries, consultations, outreach activities and recruitment events.
• Understand each prospective student’s educational and career goals and recommend suitable programmes.
• Provide accurate guidance on programme content, entry requirements, fees, schedules and application procedures.
• Follow up on leads promptly and support applicants from initial enquiry through application, offer acceptance and enrolment.
• Build and maintain relationships with relevant community organisations, employers, training partners and other local referral channels.
• Support information sessions, open houses, webinars, workshops and other student-recruitment activities.
• Maintain accurate lead and applicant records.
• Provide regular updates on the recruitment pipeline, conversion performance and local market feedback.
• Work towards agreed recruitment and enrolment targets while ensuring ethical, accurate and student-centred communication.
• Collaborate with the admissions, academic and marketing teams to improve recruitment campaigns and the prospective-student experience.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in business, marketing, psychology, education or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Relevant experience in programme counselling, education sales, student recruitment, adult learning or training services.
• Strong interpersonal, listening, consultation, presentation and follow-up skills.
• Ability to explain programme information clearly and sensitively to learners from different educational and professional backgrounds.
• Organised, service-oriented and comfortable working towards enrolment targets.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Additional language capability relevant to the Singapore market would be advantageous.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Singapore’s adult-learning, continuing-education or WSQ environment.
• Experience promoting programmes related to counselling, psychology, special education or social services.
• Previous experience in programme counselling or student recruitment within Singapore.
• Existing relationships with local community organisations, education providers, training partners or employer networks.
