A regionally significant infrastructure and network operator based in the Queenstown Lakes / Central Otago area is looking for a Contract Programme Director to bring structure, visibility and momentum to a substantial, multi-year programme of investment work.This organisation is managing rapid, sustained demand growth across one of New Zealand's fastest-growing regions, with a complex, multi-workstream programme underway to keep pace. What's needed now is someone who can step in, get a clear line of sight across the programme, build the governance and structure to support it, and keep it moving — while being a confident, credible presence at the executive table.
The role
- Bring structure and rigour to a complex, multi-workstream programme spanning several major, staged infrastructure projects
- Build (or sharpen) programme governance and reporting so leadership and the Board have a clear, accurate line of sight on progress, risk and spend
- Identify and remove blockers — get stalled or under-resourced workstreams moving again
- Own stakeholder engagement at the highest level, including regular, confident engagement with C-suite and Executive stakeholders
- Manage programme risk, benefits, budget and resourcing across the full lifecycle
- Coach and support the project/programme managers delivering into the programme
- Act as a trusted advisor to leadership on programme health, priorities and trade-offs
- Proven track record as a Programme Director or senior Programme Manager delivering complex, multi-project infrastructure, utilities or regulated-sector programmes
- Strong governance and programme structure background — you know how to stand up the right frameworks quickly
- Comfortable and credible operating at C-suite/Board level, with clear, confident communication under pressure
- A genuine driver — someone who gets in, gets visibility, and gets things moving
- Based in Queenstown, or able to be Queenstown-based for the full duration of the contract — this is an on-the-ground role, not remote
- Available for an initial 6-month contract
