Programmer

We're looking for a Programmer (mid-level) who combines strong technical foundations with a practical approach to building great player experiences. This role sits at the mid-level of our engineering career framework and is suited to someone who can independently deliver features, write clean and maintainable code, and continue developing their technical ownership.

You’ll work on our live mobile game, developing gameplay features and systems that support ongoing content development. Working closely with designers, artists, backend engineers, and production teams, you'll help create reliable, performant features that contribute to an engaging experience for players.

What you'll do:

• Build and maintain gameplay features and systems in Unity and C# that are reliable, maintainable, and easy for the wider team to work with.

• Take ownership of assigned features from initial implementation through to release, ensuring they are polished, performant, and aligned with player needs.

• Work within existing architecture, understanding how systems connect and contributing improvements where opportunities arise.

• Create flexible and maintainable solutions that allow designers and content teams to iterate effectively.

• Write clean, efficient code with an understanding of mobile performance considerations, including memory usage, allocations, and optimisation opportunities.

• Debug issues, investigate performance problems, and contribute to improving the stability and quality of the game.

• Work across a range of gameplay systems, such as UI, animation, economy, networking, persistence, and other core game technologies.

• Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and engineers to translate ideas into polished player experiences.

• Share knowledge, contribute ideas, and help maintain strong engineering practices across the team.

What we are looking for:

• Professional game development experience, ideally within Unity and mobile gaming.

• Strong Unity and C# fundamentals, with an understanding of how Unity works under the hood.

• Experience developing and shipping gameplay features in a production environment.

• Understanding of software architecture principles and the ability to write clean, maintainable code.

• Experience debugging, profiling, and considering performance when developing features for mobile platforms.

• Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.

• A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to take ownership of work and deliver high-quality results.

Nice to have:

• Experience developing free-to-play mobile games.

• Understanding of live service games and post-launch development.

• Experience with systems such as networking, economy, persistence, UI, animation, or content pipelines.

• Experience with Unity technologies such as Addressables, asset management, or object pooling.

• Experience mentoring others or contributing to technical improvements across a team.

• Console or multi-platform development experience.
