Glencore Copper is seeking a Project Assurance Principal to support the growth and development of our Copper Portfolio. This role will support our projects and current operations in Africa.
In this role you will
Ensure capital investments into respective region of the copper business, whether for sustaining or expansionary purposes is appropriately motivated, executed and managed according to established policy, procedures, and practices.
Provide input to the Portfolio Management Office (PMO), including relevant processes, systems, and structures for the relevant assets.
Support with capital project governance and assurance activities across the regional project portfolio Africa, including interaction with and coordination with the PMOs at sites and project committees.
Assist with effective project reporting across the regional project portfolio to increase transparency, perform cost and schedule analysis and support project reporting to facilitate informed strategic decision making and controls processes.
Support identification of risks, ensuring all the necessary PMO requirements and standards have been adhered to.
Conduct detailed project cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting and schedule analyses as part of the capital assurance activities.
Strong knowledge of risk identification, quantification (qualitative & quantitative), mitigation and portfolio-level risk aggregation.
Manage and facilitate portfolio risk management programs to support stakeholders in designing, building, commissioning and operating new assets and capabilities.
Lead or participate in Independent Peer Reviews (IPRs) and assurance reviews as Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Develop and maintain risk management standards, templates, guidance and best-practice approaches for Project Managers and PMOs across Copper Africa.
Support Post Investment Reviews (PIRs), analyse causes of deviations and document lessons learned and corrective actions.
Maintain and report portfolio-level assurance and risk metrics to the PMO and decision committees.
Coach and train project teams on risk workshops, quantification techniques and mitigation planning.
Experience
A Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
+15 years of relevant experience in Project Services, Project Risk Management and Project Management Office (PMO) during all project stages, with a strong focus on capital project governance and execution across all project stages.
Proven track record of managing and overseeing capital investments, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with established policies and procedures.
Strong background in project reporting, including the development of key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to enhance transparency and facilitate effective project tracking.
Proficient in risk management practices, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks, ensuring adherence to PMO standards and requirements.
Familiarity with portfolio management frameworks and tools, with experience in liaising with various stakeholders, including project committees and site PMOs.
Experience in leading cross-functional teams and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement.
Good interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of the organization.
Proven experience in assessing and managing investment risks.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all organisational levels.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and commercial awareness.
