Larry H. Miller Construction is hiring now for Summer 2027 interns!
Ideal candidates will be smart, ambitious, and hard-working with a good understanding of construction and project management principles. The intern’s assignments will make a positive contribution to the Larry H. Miller Construction team, as well as give the intern opportunities to gain hands-on work experience with the intent of training the intern for the potential of starting a successful career after graduation.
The internship will be held at the Larry H. Miller Construction Sandy, Utah location. This internship is ineligible to receive the employee benefits to which regular company employees are entitled.
Job Description
The Project Intern will play a vital role in supporting project managers and ensuring the successful execution of construction projects from start to completion.
Internship Details
- Duration: May 10, 2027 – August 6, 2027
- $22.00 hourly
- Part-time status (25 -29 hours on average)
- Must be able to commute to the LHM Construction offices, located in Sandy, Utah, as well as to nearby active job sites (South Jordan and Salt Lake City)
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited University/College, preferably in construction management, engineering, business administration, or related field
Primary Duties
- Assist project managers in the preparation of project plans, schedules, and budgets
- Coordinate meetings, site visits, and conference calls with stakeholders
- Track project progress and update project schedules accordingly
- Serve as a liaison between project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members
- Assist with obtaining quotes, issuing purchase orders, and tracking deliveries
- Help with the coordination of subcontractor activities, including scheduling, payments, and performance evaluations
- Coordinate the delivery of materials and equipment to project sites, ensuring timely arrival and proper inventory management
- Assist in conducting site inspections and audits to identify and address quality and safety concerns
- Maintain records of safety meetings, inspections, and incident reports
- Manage project-related correspondence, including emails, phone calls, and written communications
- Provide administrative support to project managers
- Take site photos and save site documents to Dropbox
Experience & Skills
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in construction management, engineering, business administration, or related field
- Proficiency in project manager software and Microsoft office
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of construction processes, terminology, and best practices
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and safety standards
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality
Physical Requirements
- This position requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs in and around construction sites
- This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions (to include but limited to, rain, snow, heat, hail, wind, and sleet), around hazardous chemicals, dust, dirt, and other particulates
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend large quantities of information, operate computer equipment, speak, hear, bend, stoop, reach, lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs. independently
- Regularly required to sit, stand, bend, reach, and move about office setting
- To perform other duties as required
