Project Coordinator (Manufacturing)

The PLE Project Coordinator keeps engineering projects on schedule and engineering changes moving — owning the meeting cadence, the schedules, the change database, and the metrics that leadership uses to scope and staff work. This is a launching-pad role designed for a recent graduate: you'll start as the schedule owner, and grow into the primary approver and cost/benefit estimator for engineering changes across the portfolio. Reporting to the Product Line Engineering Systems & Testing Team Lead, you'll work daily with project managers, engineers, Product Management, QA/QC, and Production. We hire for organization, follow-through, and curiosity — no specific degree or prior industry experience required.

Systems & Processes You'll Support

• JIRA / BigPicture — project schedules, Gantt baselines, and delivery metrics
• Engineering Change Request (ECR) database — intake, workflow, approval, closeout, and KPIs
• Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) — ECOs, process improvement, data integrity, and user support
• Engineering Test Laboratory — asset scheduling, utilization, and KPIs

Job Functions:

• Project Coordination & Schedule Management
• Support project managers in weekly project pulse meetings — scribe the discussion, publish meeting minutes, and maintain the action register from open through verified closure.
• Update and maintain JIRA BigPicture Gantt schedules so timelines, dependencies, milestones, and baselines stay accurate across the project portfolio.
• Track schedule variance against baseline and escalate at-risk milestones to project managers and engineering leadership before they slip.
• Maintain project records and follow-ups so status is current and self-serviceable for stakeholders between meetings.
• Engineering Change Management
• Curate, maintain, and enforce the Engineering Change Request (ECR) database — intake quality, completeness, routing, disposition, and audit trail.
• Train up to serve as primary ECR approver and cost/benefit estimator, partnering with Product Management, QA/QC, and Production to assess impact, cost, and risk.
• Curate and enforce Engineering Change Management workflows; communicate with downstream partners to drive ECO actions to full close-out.
• Advise engineering leadership on the scoping of engineering projects using trends, volumes, and root-cause data pulled from the ECR system.
• Metrics, Reporting & Capacity Planning
• Develop or improve and maintain KPIs for ECRs, ECOs, and project on-time delivery using JIRA and related reporting tools.
• Publish recurring dashboards and reporting to engineering leadership; surface bottlenecks, aging items, and workflow breakdowns with supporting data.
• Assist with engineering capacity planning as needed — resource loading, workload visibility, and demand versus availability views.
• Engineering Systems, Standards & Lab Support
• Provide engineering technical support of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and act as a key participant in ongoing improvements to PLM processes, usability, and data integrity.
• Help maintain and develop engineering templates and standards so documentation is consistent and reusable across product lines.
• Assist with asset scheduling and KPIs for the Engineering Test Laboratory and, potentially, the Customer Experience Center.
• Take on additional coordination, process improvement, and systems ownership as the portfolio, team, and your own scope grow.

Travel Requirements:

• 5% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Automation)

Required Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree required
• Internship, co-op, or coursework in project coordination, manufacturing, engineering, or operations.
• Exposure to JIRA, BigPicture, MS Project, Smartsheet, or similar project and schedule management tooling.
• Familiarity with PLM or ERP systems (Bluestar PLM a plus) and engineering change processes (ECR/ECO).
• Data analysis and visualization skills (advanced Excel, Power BI, Tableau) for building and maintaining KPIs.
• Interest in Lean / continuous improvement, or intent to pursue CAPM or PMP certification.
• General technical aptitude — ability to read a drawing or BOM is a plus, not a requirement.
• Familiarity with product-line / sustaining engineering vs. one-off project work.
• Must be eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship.
