About the study:
Project NOW is partnering with Indiana University, the University of Pennsylvania, MIT, and Illinois DCEO on a research study to better understand the benefits of the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The study will engage 1,000 LIHEAP households in the Quad Cities area to examine the effects of giving LIHEAP recipients more control over the use of their energy assistance through personal Energy Savings Accounts.
What you'll do
  • Work closely with academic researchers to carry out implementation of the study.
  • Assist with the onboarding of participants into the study, including helping people use their Energy Savings Accounts.
  • Provide general support to participants. Serve as the first point of contact for questions and problems.
  • Update the study tracking systems for things like enrollment status, account setup, contact accurately and on the same day the activity happens.
  • Generate monthly reports.
  • Keep a running log of implementation problems, workarounds, and things that surprised you.
  • Complete CITI human subjects research training that we arrange.
Requirements
  • Enrolled at Augustana College, available onsite in Rock Island through May 2027.
  • Careful with detail. Most of this job is getting small things exactly right, repeatedly.
  • Comfortable talking with people who are under financial stress.
Helpful but not required
  • Spanish.
  • Experience with spreadsheets, JotForm, or basic data work.
  • Coursework or interest in economics, public policy, social work, or accounting.
