Description

Project Cost Controller

Perth CBD, with travel to Finniss | Monday to Friday | Maximum term to 31 December 2027

  • Attractive salary package plus superannuation, Perth CBD, Monday to Friday
  • Own the cost position on BP33, a A$274 million underground build
  • A lean owner's team where your numbers drive real decisions

Most cost control roles hand you a reporting pack to maintain. This one hands you a project to own.

Core Lithium has taken Finniss from care and maintenance back to production in a matter of months. With the restart fully funded and first concentrate produced, our small Perth team is building the systems and disciplines of an ASX-listed producer.

The biggest piece of that is BP33, a new underground mine that will carry Finniss for more than a decade. Develop mobilised in June, the portal is cut and the decline is advancing toward first ore in mid-2027. You'll sit within Finance, dedicated to BP33, working day to day with the Project Director and project controls so cost and physical progress are read together.

Why this one works

  • Attractive salary package plus superannuation
  • Perth CBD office, Monday to Friday, with site travel to Finniss as the project needs
  • One project, end to end: budget to forecast at completion, with a clear finish line
  • Direct lines to the Project Director, Head of Finance and project controls, no layers in between
  • A structured handover, cost code by cost code, so you start with the history rather than a blank page

What you'll be doing

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you'll own the BP33 cost position from approved budget through to forecast at completion, so cost risks are seen early and commercial decisions rest on sound numbers.

  • Own the budget against the WBS and cost codes, with every commitment and actual coded correctly
  • Reconcile Pronto to each cost code monthly, prepare and reverse accruals, and close month end on time
  • Run the monthly reforecast with cost code owners and maintain ETC and EAC by cost code, flagging risks and opportunities early
  • Keep the change and variation registers current, with contingency drawdown and budget transfers approved and traceable
  • Review contractor claims, variations and invoices with the commercial team
  • Build the integrated earned value view with project controls and chase down where cost and progress diverge
  • Produce the monthly cost report with clear variance commentary, plus ad hoc analysis for scope, procurement and contractor decisions

What you'll bring

Must haves

  • Senior level project cost control experience on capital or construction projects
  • Hands on Pronto experience, including cost code reconciliation, purchase orders and receipting
  • A solid grip on accruals, commitments, forecasting and month end, and on reviewing contractor claims
  • Advanced Excel: pivot tables, lookups, and building reporting and forecasting models
  • The confidence to challenge assumptions and hold owners to deadlines, with clear written commentary
  • A tertiary qualification in finance, commerce, accounting, engineering, quantity surveying or similar

Nice to haves

  • Resources or mining experience, ideally underground or mining infrastructure construction
  • Familiarity with earned value management and Primavera P6 schedules

If you spot the miscoded invoice before anyone else, and would rather have an awkward conversation about a forecast now than a surprise at completion, you'll fit right in.
