We’re looking for a talented new team member to help us keep the good energy flowing in our Project Services team.

Based at our Bell Block office, you’ll help our project teams make well-informed financial decisions and keep projects on track. Your timely advice and analysis will support the early identification of cost pressures and risks, and improve our estimating accuracy, while helping strengthen our project cost management practices.

In this interesting and varied role, you can expect to:

  • Review and monitor project estimates and budgets.
  • Identify cost risks and provide practical guidance to help project teams manage them.
  • Monitor project expenditure and cost variances against approved baselines.
  • Support project change control, forecasting and financial reporting.
  • Analyse project costs and use the insights to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
  • Help develop effective work breakdown structures and project cost controls.
  • Support and coach project managers and teams in cost control systems and processes.
  • Maintain cost control tools, governance documents, policies and procedures.
  • Look for smarter, more efficient ways to improve our processes, systems and reporting.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys turning financial information into useful insights, building trusted relationships and helping others feel confident with project costs.

He aha tāu e kawe mai (What you will bring)

Along with your relevant qualification, you’ll bring experience in project cost control, project accounting, finance or a similar commercial environment. You may have built this experience through a dedicated cost control position, a project-based finance role or another role involving budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.

You’ll also bring:

  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience with project estimating, budgeting, reporting or cost analysis.
  • Confidence working with Microsoft Excel and other business systems.
  • The ability to explain financial information clearly to people with different levels of financial knowledge.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • An improvement mindset and an interest in finding simpler, more effective ways of working.

You’ll be valued for who you are, rewarded for what you do and supported to thrive. We’ll sweeten your (already nicely competitive) salary with a host of extra benefits including additional leave entitlements, flexible working arrangements and free insurances and health checks. We’ll fuel your professional development, keep you at the top of your game and help you build the career you want. Our award-winning wellness programme recognises you’re more than the job you do and supports you with initiatives like an annual wellness grant and access to professional wellbeing services for you and your whānau. You’ll get to work in a safe, healthy environment, supported by great people who want to see you succeed.
