Project Director - Design, Infrastructure and Ports
Summary
Leads large infrastructure projects (with preference for ports) as a Project Director, overseeing multidisciplinary teams, client relationships, budgets, and risk management for civil engineering/design consultancy work.
Role description:
With growing demand in our Infrastructure team and to support an exciting array of future projects, we are looking for a Project Director with infrastructure industry experience to provide leadership across complex multidisciplinary projects, with special consideration given to Ports experience.
Role accountabilities:
- Provide peak leadership to a large multi-discipline technical team delivering design & engineering services for major civil infrastructure projects, ensuring that the team clearly understands what and how it is to deliver the required project outcomes.
- Be the ultimate interface between the Project Team to the Client. Manage the senior levels of client relationship to ensure client expectations are clearly defined, understood by the team, and delivered / exceeded by our services.
- Communicating with team members to ensure that they understand, and become engaged with, the project strategy, brief and client requirements;
- Developing and managing the Project Programme and obtaining the buy-in of all stakeholders
- Ensuring that effective financial and project management controls are in place and deployed to enable monitoring, modification and forecasting as appropriate
- Continually looking to enhance productivity through improved processes, procedures and systems
- Maintaining an overview of the commercial aspects of the project (contract, invoicing, debt, client management)
- Communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure that all parties are kept informed on all relevant matters impacting and influencing projects
- Managing the acquisition, deployment and management of resources for the project to ensure optimal resource allocation for projects
- Directing the assessment, selection and management of suppliers, sub-consultants and contractors associated with projects
- Ensuring that completed engineering and documentation work is reviewed for technical, Arcadis and client compliance
- Ensuring risks are proactively identified, assessed and managed to avoid adverse impacts on the project
- Working to ensure maximum client satisfaction, championing client care and proactively working with the client
- Reviewing the performance of team members and developing them to their full potential
- Ensure the team members are effectively managed with regard to health & safety, wellbeing, and personal & professional development through projects.
Qualification & Experience:
First and foremost, you share our passion for improving quality of life. You are a seasoned project management professional with extensive experience in the infrastructure market and come to us with:
- Relevant engineering degree with Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation;
- Approximately 20+ years industry experience
- Industry leader in leading multidisciplinary design teams for infrastructure projects within a design and engineering consultancy environment;
- Demonstrated experience delivering complex infrastructure projects;
- Well-developed technical and commercial skills, with a sound knowledge of the industry and a demonstrated ability in securing opportunities;
- Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder management experience and the ability to build credible, collaborative but influential relationships both internally and externally;
- Previous demonstrated experience in managing large project teams;
- Experience in the successful delivery of ports projects will be an advantage but is not essential.
